He's shown more of that than Trey has.

He has played 2 full seasons of football and still doesn't look much better than Trey in the passing game.

Fields is a better runner for sure which gives him the edge over Trey. But when has Kyle shown that he covets running QB's over pocket passers?

I think you are mistaken. Kyle's job is to win football games and he most likely thought that Trey's legs gave the offense a better chance than Trey's processing and release in the short passing game. That doesn't mean he values running QB's over pocket passers.

My point was that Kyle will use whatever the best weapon the QB has to win a game. He would have had Fields running a lot. Fields has the same tools as Lance but Fields doesn't stare at a wide open receiver and not throw. He just misses the target when he throws 😂

Well apparently Fields wasn't even on his radar and the decision came down to Lance or Jones. So he probably thought that Trey had the better upside as a passer over Fields. Trey's ability to run was an emergency option and not the primary. The fact that RGIII was the only other running QB that Kyle worked extensively with but was forced by ownership should tell you all you need to know about what Kyle looks for in his QB's. They didn't want RGIII. They wanted Kirk Cousins. Just look at this list.

He was even contemplating trading for Matthew Stafford.

If Kyle coveted running more than passing, he would have taken Fields over Lance.

I understand the draft is a crapshoot. Ultimately a players success is in their control. No coach no scheme can make a player good. Lance was staring at wide open receivers and not throwing the f**king ball. Dude just sucks we drafted a bust. I wanted Fields. Much the same when McGlinchey was drafted I wanted Alexander. I don't care if picks get wasted as long as we are competitive. You want to see me upset just wait til we draft another kicker/punter.

That's exactly why you don't give up 3 first round picks for someone as RAW as Lance.

Thankfully we have Brock, otherwise things would look a little more concerning right now.

Yeah I liked the move up to 3 cause it was clear QB was our weak link. I just didn't understand taking the blue meat raw QB prospect. Justin Fields with this roster would be a f**king nightmare for every DC in the NFL.

That's why I always question Kyle. Didn't even give mahomes the time of day and passed on fields as well

If we drafted Fields, Fields would be going through exactly what Trey is going through right now.
