go through my 10 years plus on the zone.

I never tell the coach gm players what they should have done with hindsight goggles.

I have moments where i "wish" things would be different.

And I hated Nolan haha

Almost 20 years now actually

yeah i was gonna say...Crown was here before me.

Realistically no one is winning the SB this year as SF's QB except Purdy. But if there's a game or two where Purdy needs to be out for injury Darnold is a better in-the-moment for that instance stop-gap. If Darnold has to play more than that he's highly unlikely to deliver like Foles did in 2017. Same goes for the backups in Philly, KC, Buffalo, etc.

I would agree. But if the concern is just the floor of the backup qb who is playing to try and mitigate damage until Brock comes back there were better options.

I don't see what Kyle sees in Sam as a backup. As a developmental guy that never has to play? Totally get it.

It's not as though there's a huge availability of backup quality QBs out there. There's maybe 20 viable *starting QBs* in any given season, and half of those aren't seen as the SB winning type.

The talent pool is shallow. Darnold fits the backup QB type rather well, which is mostly washed up starters with untapped potential but too many flaws to be a starter anymore.

I found this site back in 98. I believe using yahoo! This site had everything a fan from out of town could want. And even better it had radio broadcast links so I could listen live for free. It was amazing to listen to starkey and I think it was Plummer every week.

I don't think they created the forums until years later. I always lurked and resisted joining until much later, but I do recall many of your names over the years. Sometimes these forums make us all crazy but overall it's awesome and crazy how long the site has been around.

Perhaps you dont recall Montana/Young.

I most certainly do, but that was for QB1. This much drama and hullabaloo over who is the backup qb vs QB3 is just strange. Is there any other qb controversy in the NFL that's been talked about as much as this one? I haven't seen one.

I wonder if the the webzone was around back in the early 90s if that would have been the most controversial thing to ever go down?

if you think back....it might be more than 20 years.... This is Webzone 2.0

They did a software change and we all had to remake accounts.

It took about a year to get the user count back up.... not to mention for years if you did not post every 30 days or so it deleted your account....

No, it isn't.

In 1978, we traded the following:
  • 2nd and 3rd round picks in the 1978 draft.
  • 1st round pick in the 1979 draft.
  • 2nd and 4th round picks in the 1980 draft.

For a 31yr old OJ Simpson with bad, arthritic knees.

That's the worst trade in franchise history.

Educate them, linkboy!

Although some fans will keep crying even if we win the Super Bowl.

Thats not even close to giving up 3 first and a third round pick in the 7 round draft era, for a QB we never used.

How many rounds was the draft back then and how many picks did each team get?

We drafted Dwight Clark in the 10th round & Jesse Sapolu in the 11th round. Those rounds don't even exist anymore.
