another idiotic move by shanahan. will go down as the worst trade in franchise history

No, it isn't.

In 1978, we traded the following:
  • 2nd and 3rd round picks in the 1978 draft.
  • 1st round pick in the 1979 draft.
  • 2nd and 4th round picks in the 1980 draft.

For a 31yr old OJ Simpson with bad, arthritic knees.

That's the worst trade in franchise history.

Thats not even close to giving up 3 first and a third round pick in the 7 round draft era, for a QB we never used.

How many rounds was the draft back then and how many picks did each team get?

We drafted Dwight Clark in the 10th round & Jesse Sapolu in the 11th round. Those rounds don't even exist anymore.

The difference is they thought Trey could develop into a good QB with a lot of athleticism. The fact that he hasn't doesn't make the move up a bad move. It was a chance that they felt was worth taking. Teams get picks wrong all the time.

Everyone knew OJ was shot. They brought him here because there were only 35,000 people in the stands and they wanted to bring some star power with the home town guy. Giving up a 1st, two 2nds , a 3rd and a 4th for a player you KNOW can't play anymore is a far bigger mistake.
I guess if you are going to consider what the worst trade is you also have to factor how much did that trade impact the team, in other words how far back did the trade set us back.

The trade up for Trey is bad and is the most we've given up value wise but it didn't set us back as much as we all throught it would if Trey didn't work out. I thought for sure Kyle and Lynch jobs would be on the line but it appears they have somehow escaped.

What is funny about this to me is if Trey didn't get injured last year none of this would even matter and be taking place. He'd be starting for us right now unless he just sucked.

Exactly.

Hell, the absolute worst thing to happen to Trey's chance to start wasn't even the ankle injury, it was Brock playing like he did last year.

Brock's play last year was the best QB play we've had since Kyle took over and earned him the starting job.

Had Brock not balled out, Trey's probably the starter going into camp this year.

Yep if Brock did what most everyone thought he would do and struggle(which wouldn't of been surprising), Trey would be starting right now.
This feels as well managed as the time clock in the SB vs KC

Brocks play last year was the best stretch of QBing we've seen since Steve Young imo.

and to top it off he was a rookie. But the guys who only like Trey, Brock is just a 1 year wonder who can't improve and he sucks bc his arm isnt a cannon.

It's quite amazing. They think Potential >>>> Actually doing it in a real game

nitpick it as you want, hands down worst trade in franchise history, in a moment that we were/are 1-2 players away from the sb win every year.

3 FIRST ROUNDERS for a prospect, and then they want to convince me we have got some kind of masterminds at gm and hc.
Darnold 68 TOs in 56 games but our qb whisperer can definitely change that!!! He's proven it through out his career. Cj bethard going into the hall of fame. Mullens too!

I disagree but whatever.

Reid isn't that special - in fact he was KS until he found a special player/players.

the only thing he is better at than KS is he doesn't seem to black out in big game moments.
we should reboot the poll to see if things are changing on old KS; with this latest news.. are people still onboard?

I'm still on board!!! As long as Kyle gets us to the playoffs i'm good.

I am still on board. However, I learned a valuable lesson about taking his word at face value.

You.... you do know Reid's reputation for blowing leads and not being good enough of a coach to win the big game prior to 2019, right?
