49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

The irony of Kyle's legacy being tied to a practice squad Mr. Irrelevant QB after 7 years is absolutely insane to think about.

Football makes no sense sometimes.

What is the average tenure of a professional football head coach in the NFL over the last, say, 20 years?
One site says about 4.3 years. But that doesn't sound right.
Look at us.
We had Singletary, Harbs, Tomsula, Kelly. 2,4,1,1 years.

Purdy was never on the practice squad. Kyle smartly kept him in the 53 much to people's chagrin who thought he should have risked waivers to stash him on the practice squad.

More like another QB flourishing in Kyle's system

Every QB that has played for Kyle has had their best seasons under him. That is nothing new.

will Brock continue to progress, time will tell.
Our qb situation has definitely been weird but given the results Shanny has given us I'll more than put up with it.

Outside of maybe Reid he's the best offensive mind in football.

And it took Andy Reid 20 seasons to win a Super Bowl and 6 seasons just to get to one. Shanahan has accomplished just as much in half that time.

I can't believe the dumb ass Broncos went with Vance Joseph!!!!

Imagine once the QB is finally right? This offense will be as good as any. I'm sure it sucks to have this roster and a mid-level QB (at best). It's like a Ferrari with a crappy driver.

He is one Brock away from a potential KC in the NFC. That is a title I'd love to see here. Staying positive. No injuries and Brock is the one (said that before ugh)

Just luck of the draw, but if you are a good coach, you just seem to be luckier than the others.

EVERY QB ???

You're basically saying that Lance will not be better than what he shown when he was here w/the 49ers..

If Bill Walsh was Kyle's age, he wouldn't be a coach for another couple of years. Bill Belichick called Kyle and John (if I recall correctly) to trade Jimmy to them one day prior to the trade deadline in 2017. That's another lucky event for Kyle, just like getting Purdy. Luck of the draw, but Kyle just a plain lucky guy!

Agree 💯%, and a lot of Kyle's offense is based on misdirection. The only problem with misdirection is if the defense doesn't buy the fake, the QB can get killed.

I think Kyle loading up on the TE and having bigger bruising power backs, is going to make the offense not have to rely 100% on the misdirection working for a play to be explosive.

1 QB out of the many others is solid results.

I'm sure Trey will get better, but that's pretty obvious, he can't really get worse. He needs live reps and that's something he wasn't going to get here. Purdy is just a much better QB and can't fault Kyle at all for this.

I guess he was unlucky with Trey. He couldn't have seen those 2 injuries derailing his plans for development. The NFL and most sports are a lot about luck. Injuries. Darft picks. In game calls by officials. Tipped balls. Luck plays a big part.

Even players performance is about luck to some extent. When team wins a championship it's often because many if not all the players have career years. They all stay healthy and for whatever reason play to their max. That's hard to do when you are at the level these guys are. To play at your best every week is rare. That's why we always see those winners and losers ratings after games.
