Kyle liked him after he saw Purdy in training camp, and the rest is history. Predraft it was Slowik and Griese that strongly advocated for him - and by that strong recommendation, ShanaLynch drafted Brock.

Having said all that, what a hell of a QB the 49ers have. He's looking more and more like a generational talent every game.

Yeah, it was Griese (our QB coach) and guys like slowik who fell in love with Purdy during the pre draft process. We had a fourth round grade on him but kept passing him cause they thought he would be there later. I don't think Kyle even watched Brock during the draft process, he saw him In OTAs and camp, after we drafted him and was impressed.

brock also added a lot to his arm after his final college season, which added an element to his game that has helped him a lot in the pros. Added a lot more zip.

One thing that hopefully all fans could agree on, is Kyle puts really talented football minds around him. It's exemplified in the draft process where we keep churning out hidden gems. But it's also reflected in the fact that he's seeding his coaching tree throughout the NFL at a pace I don't think I've ever seen from a young coach.

Part of what makes Kyle great is that he really does trust the people he puts around him. Can't have Purdy without Kyle giving Griese a chance and then choosing to listen to him. Pretty cool stuff.

I think Kyle became conservative with his play calling once we built up a lead. Doesn't want to put too much film out there if he doesn't have to.

Another play that stood out to me was when the 49ers aligned four to one side of the formation (Deebo, CMC, Aiyuk, Bell?) with Kittle on the other. That type of overload requires a defensive plan to deal with that weird alignment. Kyle put it on film so opponents now have to devote time during the week to talk about it.

I agree, one of the reasons I liked the wilks hiring (besides the fact he's a really good coach) was because he's a veteran experienced coach. Kyle has always had young guys around him. Which I don't think there is an issue as a whole but it makes it where Kyle doesn't have a veteran coach to lean on for advice. I always felt like Mcvay benefited a lot by having wade Phillips as his DC.

so I like that Kyle has a guy around him who's had success at various levels and head coach experience. Wilks is widely respected by players too.

but yeah, Kyle has a knack for having awesome talent around him. It's impressive that a lot of the guys he's mentored, are actually having success as Hesd coaches so far. When you look at the belichick coaching tree - most of them were duds.

DIDN'T Martz used the same BUNCH FORMATION on that Monday Night Opener against the Broncos after winning the Super Bowl?

it was Bruce-Holt-Az-Faulk on the right side while his TE stood on the other end?

ain't no thang.. ain't no thang..

My slowly evolving Super Bowl pick, which also will be updated each week, depending on performances: 49ers over Dolphins.
