Right. Now do drives per game, plays per game, and seconds per play.

Of course all of this is going to be somewhat dictated by game situation… for example having significant leads as we have… but I'd apply it to the losses and close games specifically.
#3 offense
#5 defense

should be good enough to win the chip

Two things:

I provided an argument using a basic statistic you provided, and also asked if you were aware of our points per drive, which would also support my argument.

Secondly, I made it clear that is a concern of mine going forward… not looking backward to a first half schedule that featured mostly bad offensive teams in games where this was a non issue. I understand your 'if it aint broke don't fix it' point, but I'm not looking at season long ranks… I'm isolating for meaningful games against quality opponents which is what we will be going through to reach our goal.

Let's revisit as we play some of the more important games on out schedule.

On a side note, it would be nice if you could post our possessions per game, and points per drive statistics if you have them. Not sure they're easily accessible unless you chart them yourself (which I know you like to do). If you don't have them, no worries… maybe I'll find time to chart them myself.

We are #2 in points/play and points/drive

The argument he is making is a joke. It has to be. No one can possibly be that anal.

Lol… you just aren't identifying a concern I have. It's not remotely anal.

Feel free to reply to my follow up to the post you're responding to.

Is your argument that the offensive pace is too slow or the defense isn't getting enough stops to get the ball back to the offense?

You are being very anal-retentive. Because not only are we top 10 in all total offensive stats, we are also top 10 in all offensive efficiency stats. Including stats in yards and points.

You can pull the answers for the follow up questions that I asked you from the same website you pulled this data from. Why not do it?

because i have never heard of seconds/play be used as a metric and your other criteria makes no sense

here are some of the teams with the most drives/game
1)New York Giants
2)Washington Commanders
3)Cleveland Browns
4) Baltomore Ravens
5) Arizona Cardinals
6) Indianapolis Colts
7) NY Jets

are you wishing our offense were more like these teams?

Read the posts again… my argument is a complimentary football argument. That we are not helping ourselves by shortening the game and moving slow on offense because our defense isn't as good as it has been and has struggled to get off the field against every good offense we've faced except for Dallas.

My argument isn't a criticism of our offense… it's that we aren't using it enough and we'll see if this problem continues and/or is exacerbated when we play better teams.

Our defense is allowing less points per game the same amount of yards per game and forcing more turnovers than last year

With the talent we have we should be #1 on defense. But yes to what you said.

Plays per game: 27th
Seconds per play: 32nd

If anyone wants to dig deeper you can see the plays per game in our losses is of course even lower, and our pace is only slightly better. Our offense is really good… our defense is more suspect than it has been. One way you can counteract a less efficient defense is by increasing your offense's pace… especially when it is a dominant offense. You play to your strengths and try to widen the efficiency strengths you have over your opponent. Thats going to be on the offensive side of the ball this season.
