If Jed seriously fires Shanahan and Lynch after this season, I'm officially done and will start boycotting this franchise until ownership changes.

((That's how confident I am that it won't happen))

It won't happen after just one season.

But, if we continue to stink up the joint, it won't last 6 years neither.

What if we go say 2-14 for 3 years in a row? You don't think something will go down?

Hue Jackson has only won 1 game in the last 23 games, that is why he is crapping in his pants now.

At the end of the day it is a business and you have to win games even during a rebuild. It is imperative they show improvements through time to prove they are going in the right direction.

This is Year 1, if we don't win more than 2 games like what Kelly did, one could argue it is already not going in the right direction. There is zero rationale why Shanahan can't do better than Kelly.

Come same time next year if we only have 1 win in 23 games like the Browns now, what do you think the sentiments around will be?

So, I would say if things don't pan out, they will be out after 3 years, maximum 4, but they definitely won't get to 6.

You don't need to win more games in your first year than your predecessor's last year. Walsh didn't, Johnson didn't. However, you are correct that year two needs more wins than year one, and year three more than year two, etc.

Well, the good news is NFLN is covering how lost the Falcons are without Kyle Shanahan despite having the same exact personnel as last year.

should that make us feel better about being winless ?

Certainly not but it is an indication that if Lynch can do his job and actually get good players, we aleast won't have a Greg Roman 2.0.
Of course they won't get to 6 if they don't start winning. Everyone knows that, hell, I have no doubt they know that.

Big difference between sacking a guy after 3-4 unsuccessful years and doing it after a single season (or less than half a season as some are already clammering for)

You should actually count how many guys on the 53 man roster are theirs and how many carried over...

http://www.49ers.com/team/roster.html

You should be intelligent enough to understand that a lot of players who were brought in weren't meant to be long term answers. Most FA's other than Juice, M. Smith, Garcon, Gould and maybe Goodwin were short term patches (i.e. Paulsen, Robinson, Gilliam, Coyle, Hoyer, Watson). The rest are made up of rookies including 5 undrafted and mid-season acquisitions.

With over a 100 million in cap space available next year we should see another roster turnover with 30-40% being new additions. The point of the post was that the roster was left in shambles and we were forced to rebuild this way. Your post neglects to acknowledge that fact which makes it a flawed response.

The OP was that KS inherited a bad roster...the current bad roster playing today is his...

While we sit on 65million under the cap....

Can't bring in 53 new players that you want all in one off season though right?

Exactly. Most veteran free agents the new regime brought in are just here to help ingrain the young players into the systems we are running. Not because they were stars and not because all of them will be on the roster in 2 or 3 seasons. At best these free agents are role players, some better or more integral than others. The new regime was handed a bad roster and owns it now, but they also own the right to their six years to get this ship right. I don't expect it will take six years, but they deserve that nonetheless. There will probably, should the right one come available, be a top tier free agent come in at some point. Be that this off-season or beyond that. But the idea is to draft, develop, and pay your own players rather than need to pay an outsider. Exceptions can and will be made.

Which is why I am still pumped we got Shanahan & Lynch in here.

This rebuild is gonna take some time,
Exactly. Understanding the realities of our roster situation (and what it takes to build an elite roster from scratch) you can see that being in position to win five of our first seven games is evidence that Kyle is our guy at HC. Absent a few mistakes this team has several wins right now which would feel good, but would ultimately be pyrrhic in nature. We all know that losing sucks, but we're losing because we have a bad roster. The upside of this losing season is that it will provide for a great draft slot come April. We want to bring in elite talent and we'll be in good position to have our pick of the litter come April. Absent tremendous good luck the process of rebuilding this roster will take seasons to come to fruition.

Best case acenario is that we can find somebody to take on KS and the rest of his outrageous contract.... Root for ATL to tank, Quinn gets blown out, we flip KS for 2 thirds to ATL,

Some of you guys seriously want him gone after 1 year? Yeah cause that sounds about right. 4 coaches in 4 years. Can you name a REALISTIC alternative then?

Robert Saleh .. imagine that though .. this is a True rebuild. I don't think that there's any team recently in the Nfl that has had to rebuild from scratch like our Niners. We have the worst talent in the League. Only a couple cornerstone players, we definitely need 2 solid offseason along with hitting on draft picks in order to start competing for playoffs again. Possibly re-evaluating DB coach along with Saleh

Exactly. You think we're a dump now? We'll be below the Knicks and Browns put together if Jed for whatever reason fires Shanahan and Lynch after this year.
