49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

Robert Saleh .. imagine that though .. this is a True rebuild. I don't think that there's any team recently in the Nfl that has had to rebuild from scratch like our Niners. We have the worst talent in the League. Only a couple cornerstone players, we definitely need 2 solid offseason along with hitting on draft picks in order to start competing for playoffs again. Possibly re-evaluating DB coach along with Saleh

I truly believe that is the case. This dates back to that terrible offseason a couple of years backs. Borland, Willis, Smith, Davis(f**k him) retired, i think crabtree left also and Bowman was coming out of a devastating injury. It is TOUGH to come back from that. Plus 2 wasted years in Tomsula and Chip. I don't know how to make it so obvious that this team wants to completely start from scratch.

Exactly. You think we're a dump now? We'll be below the Knicks and Browns put together if Jed for whatever reason fires Shanahan and Lynch after this year.

Yeah firing Kyle would put us at the same category as the Browns. Who would want to coach this team if we constantly fire guys year after year? Fans can be unbelievably irrational and impatient.

They hired him to come up with offensive game plans and call plays. He has no head coaching experience. His value is as the OC.
And this team is already as sad or more sad than the Browns and Knicks.
Kyle is our chance at changing that.
Jesus the whining on this thread is out of control. It's year 1 of a multi year rebuild. Yes, the roster sucks and it showed Sunday. Give him 3 years and if we aren't competing for a wild card spot then we can talk about whether this train is on the right track.

We're not quite as embarrassing as the Browns and Knicks put together, because at least we got that rich history.

If Jed fires his fourth coach in four years though? Boy oh boy even the history won't be able to save this franchise.

All true. These guys will get a chance, they deserve it and Jed has no other promising options, he is lucky Shanahan has a sentimental link to the team.
Regarding the decision by lynch and Shanny NOT to buy more FAs....i agree with their holding back because no thanks to baalke we had no idea what we had in the cupboard. WEll, it turns out...not much. so now we know. IF they had burned up a lot of that cash pile, then we could ahve ended up with guys we really didn't need. We need 16 starters by my count, but that could be up or down a tad. We needed 18 before FA and draft . We added Solly and Reuben but Reuben is hard to count not being able to play. Hopefully he isn't another ACL type acquisition. Anyway, Au Jus and Solly are our two notable starters. Reuben is held in suspencse depending on how eh does thru rest of yr. Sixteen starters is a big Chunk to bite off. At least now we know when John goes shopping he KNOWS what we don't have . Didn't know it before these two came on board.

Our best bet ...and luck....would be if CJ is truly the one. I wish i could be sure we will know at yrs end. But with the disaster at OG C OG how can you really rate your QB or not? If he is the FR QB and we can establish that, then a great yr for us. That means we can forego cuzins and get another developmental QB kyle likes. That would also make it easier for us to get the
2 ERs
2 CBs'
ILB
OLB
# 1 WR
2 OGs
Center
DL
And the big one....Depth at all 22 positions.
That is a big get but will be much easier if we have our FR QB...or at least think so. We need to buy as many of these in FA as we can as we need them now...not 3 yrs after they have learned. Then with the 5 picks in top 70, get whatever else we need. We have to recognize we will not fill out our wish list once again next yr...but we will do better than we did this yr. Also that One DL, may end up being 2..ugh. But that's ugly but could happen.

So look for Lynch to be buying like a madman, tho still disciplined this coming FA. And we will know if there are any of the current non starters that may be able to fill in some of the starter slots. Then we get what we can in Draft. But FA is where we have to make it happen, and with 12 losses or 15, it will make it harder to attract layers...esp top line players. Stay tuned.

Im all in playoffs next year. People forget we made moves for the future and CHOSE not to spend all our cap. Just wait. Stay patient.

To be fair he is a very good DL coach!

Playoffs next year? Too soon. 2019 they should be competing for a wild card, but next year is unlikely.
Really just depends what the fa market is. If Cousins, Lawrence hits we could hit a grand slam. Other years you have to overpay Nate Clements and Jonas Jennings.
One more loss and KS will be the worst rookie HC in 49er history. That makes me sad because I wanted KS to be our HC, hopefully he can turn it around but this start to his coaching career is headed in the Huge Jackson direction.

I am not thinking playoffs next year. 6-8 wins in year two would be enough to prove to me we are on the right track. Playoffs year three. Of course I would be ecstatic if that time table were to move up.
