KNBR just talked about the conservative Kyle and aggressive Campbell and their takeaway was hopefully the game isn't close enough for those type of decisions to impact the game

The conservativism of Steve Wilkes will be an even bigger factor

It goes both ways. Ultra aggressive cost the Lions in their loss to Dallas.
On Saturday Green Bay should have prob taken 3 instead of going for it on 4th down.

On the TD winning drive Brock scramble play, Conley lined up as a WR and then motion backward to around 7 yards behind the LOS. I don't think I seen that motion or shift before. Did he played the CMC choice route role (which would be very odd, and unlikely), did he line up wrong, or it was by design and I somehow never remember seeing that before.

It does go both, my preference is aggressive. To give some anecdotal points, Marty Ball is known as conservative tactics, and it famously tanked in postseason. Then you have Sean Payton doing a surprise onside in the SB, or Philly Special for Pederson, and those guys have their ring. I like going when the analytics say go. My least favorite play in football is a plus territory punt. Punting is a voluntary turnover, and some field position, nothing more. As good as Kyle is at playcalling, I find his conservative analytics and clock mgmt maddening.

Yeah, didn't see the game yesterday, but didn't the Bills call a really bad fake punt yesterday?

The coach needed a spark. KC was marching up and down on that defense.

I don't think it was even called by McDermott. Chiefs had 10 guys on the field so the Bills players checked to it.
Bucs went for 2 with no real reason to do so. That was more curious.

Irony being that one of the biggest criticisms of Shanahan's was his aggressiveness in SB LI.

One reason may be conservative in those instances is he's relying or is confident in his defense. Kyle has one of the better defenses in the NFL. 49er defense is at or near the top in causing turnovers.

Honestly, his aggression depends on his QB. He was overaggressive with Matt Ryan in the SBLI, and then seemed to be conservative with Jimmy.
We've had two (full) playoff games with Purdy as QB. He seems to have a lot of trust in him , so we'll see how things shake out on this run.

The defense is definitely part of the equation, but in the 2024 NFL I question whether any HC should choose to rely on their defense in any circumstances as the game is so titled against defenses now.

Also need the players to execute. Other thread showed he had the perfect call dialed up to Aiyuk that gets the ball to the 15 if not inside the 10 and Brock didn't take the throw and instead checked down.

I think it's important to differentiate. I am talking about analytics, like go for 2, go for it on 4th, decisions. I don't recall any such in the SB. I'm not talking about pass vs run distribution.
