49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

Coach of the year never makes sense. He should have won it in 2019 I believe but Harbaugh won it cause he won games with a QB who no one believed in. Then last year when Kyle won with a QB no one believed in they gave it to the first year coach for making a first round QB look mid as f**k. This year Kyle has continued to win with the QB no one believes in. I do think Meco has earned this award but the NFL owes Kyle two coach of the year awards.

Agreed
Demeco

That clock mgmt was so bad. He's trying to explain it, and he reveals his thinking by admitting he was punting, if the 3rd down play didn't convert. That's why he burned all that clock and TO. It's bad clock mgmt, driven by bad analytics.

The correct way to approach that situation: you have 2 plays get get 2 yards. You have Trent Williams and 2 MVP candidates. This ain't hard folks. Pick up the yards, and the job is to score points. Preserve clock. Very frustrating, he will seemingly continue to make poor analytical decisions, that cost the team win probability. This is ongoing in our postseasons.

"We handled it the way we wanted to," Shanahan said on Thursday. "We ended up kicking it on fourth down, didn't we?

My prediction of BB coming here is slowly coming true! He isn't going to get a head coaching gig this year, neither Washington or seattle will hire him.

muhahaha

now thinking McVay steals BB
It's Ryans or Campbell. They won't give that to an already established head coach.

Why do we do this when we can easily observe NFL coaches across the league employing the opposite strategy? They're 'experts' too. It's not like faithful is out on a limb here.

I do know better. You think burning a ton of clock and a TO, and then going hurry up and spiking is 4D chess? It was stupid. Waste clock then salvage clock, on the same lil sequence. He was betting we would fail. He was not even opening his mind to that being 4 down territory. Which it was. 2 yds in 2 downs with a historically good O, that's child's play. How many MVP candidates does it take for some balls to drop, so to speak..

Of course it's bad strategy. Typical Kyle to spin it to make it seem he had it all under control. Truth be told he caved. He was in GB territory with plenty of time and timeouts remaining, and he balked. For ppl to believe that this was part of some master plan that he executed to perfection is laughable…
