49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

Nah I'm defending faithful on this one too.

When we had Jimmy G who's more prone to turning the ball over, it made more sense to defend Kyle for his clock management.

There's no excuse now. I mean, you could argue it's better to be conservative in the rain, but I think that's a poor argument.

Kyle is a great coach, but he gets very strange in certain playoff games at certain moments in the game.

If he said he was concerned about the rain, at least that would be a reason. It would still be incredibly conservative though… and kicking long FGs in the rain aint easy either. The offense needs more than a 1-play opportunity to get in better position (which is what we did to ourselves by draining clock esp. at 3rd and 2).

And being concerned about the offense is tough for me at that point in the game. We had two drives before that. One that was effectively killed by a penalty, and a TD drive where Brock made a good play… which was the last possession.

I will say Kyle did dial up a big play, Brock missed the read I believe.

Kyle does get squirrley before the end of the half.

Yea he did. That was the 1 play I referenced in the post.

The crazy part is even if he hits Aiyuk on that crosser, we could just as easily run out of time/plays in prime scoring position.

Ya dude you definitely know better 😂

Why do we do this when we can easily observe NFL coaches across the league employing the opposite strategy? They're 'experts' too. It's not like faithful is out on a limb here.

No no. It's heresy to contradict our coaches. Clearly Shanahan was in complete control of the situation. The sheep believe in him completely.
well if Shanny was consistently bad.. would wouldn't be winning nor get as far as we do. There's def more good than bad

Don't we lead the league in scoring before the end of the half?

Yeah buttttt…we got the worst QB of the bunch I thought?

Yep all those teams apparently have Terrific QBs while we have just some guy named Big Cock Brock.

FTFY.

Not sure how a stat like that would be anything other than another reason to not give the clock away. We're good at scoring at the end of 1st halves… let's put ourselves in the optimal position do that.

Maybe not call plays in the rain that require your qb to air it out against a formidable secondary when you have the best rb in the league against a suspect run defense? I swear Kyle will call plays just because he schemed it regardless of the playing conditions and situation.

Brock was clearly.struggling. rain, jitters from that almost pick 6, whatever. Kyle didn't do him ANY favors the rest of the game.

Lets get it done. A lot of getting BOUNCED in the NFC Championship Game with this guy. In past history. Hopefully we advance this year. I think we can. We have the team and the homefield to make it happen.

Oh ya, all the good coaches go conservative running attack in 2 min drills.
