There's no excuse now. I mean, you could argue it's better to be conservative in the rain, but I think that's a poor argument.
Kyle is a great coach, but he gets very strange in certain playoff games at certain moments in the game.
If he said he was concerned about the rain, at least that would be a reason. It would still be incredibly conservative though… and kicking long FGs in the rain aint easy either. The offense needs more than a 1-play opportunity to get in better position (which is what we did to ourselves by draining clock esp. at 3rd and 2).
And being concerned about the offense is tough for me at that point in the game. We had two drives before that. One that was effectively killed by a penalty, and a TD drive where Brock made a good play… which was the last possession.
I will say Kyle did dial up a big play, Brock missed the read I believe.
Kyle does get squirrley before the end of the half.
