49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

We did not play well against Green Bay. Some say otherwise but I strongly disagree. If we played up to our potential we should've beat both Detroit and Green Bay without the need for lucky bounces. We haven't played to our potential.

if you think lions and packers are mediocre you still have no idea what you are talking about

you are just looking at records and watching the game you arent actually watching football If Packers played the whole season like they did the last half they would've been a 10-12 win team easily. The difference in Jordon Loves play from beginning to end of the season was incredible

So winning a triple a championship matters now?

Theres a difference when your issues are execution and schematic. Plays were there to be made on offense, they just weren't in the 1st half. Defense only got stops because of Lion mistakes and a fumble. To me that's the big difference.

Now this is stupid too Thats like saying the first half the D just made execution errors by not setting the edge that's why they didn't play well.

Even live you can see the schematic changes they made in 2nd half to hold them scoreless till we had a 10 point lead with less than 2 minutes left

Two drops from an open receiver ended drives. Another was ended on a great play fumble. 4th possession they drove it down on us and finally on 4th down he made a good play call to get a stop. I saw very little schematic change. Just rush 4 with soft zone from the linebackers. Rinse and repeat.

Andy Reid vs Steve Wilks is the biggest mismatch in the SB.

I'll never understand the "we are going to lose" mentality. It's not over till it's over. This team has driven all of us nuts at different point and times this year but they're in the big dance. We are Uber talented, and when we play our best ball - we are nearly unstoppable.

After the last two games of what we've witnessed, you should realize that no matter how bleak it seems - we have a chance.

i think we will win. It'll be insanely difficult but I think we finally have the qb to Will us there

Shanahan deserves a lot of credit for his scheme and play-calling, however, it was Purdy making off-schedule plays that won the game. The escape and pass to Juice, the 53 yards of scrambles in key situations, and giving BA a chance in a one-on-one situation are all things Purdy created that allowed the team to win. He put the team, and Shanahan on his back and carried them to the Super Bowl. Shanahan realized it, which is why he was the first guy to hug Purdy. I'll stop short of calling it a marriage made in heaven but it is pretty dang good.

Shan has been looking for a QB who can do this and has mentioned the need to make off schedule plays for awhile now.

Yeah, Kyle has mentioned something to the effect of wanting a QB that can, "bail out the playcall" (paraphrased).

Solid post and agree.

Also, and I'm guessing, Purdy will be a lot more loose and play even more aggressively having had such success improvising.

I remember when Cousins and Burrow took this defense apart earlier in the season. To slow down Mahomes they'll absolutely need to get lucky with some turnovers/drops....etc

Rams really were able to be successful as well. Didn't light up the scoreboard but dominated the ball. Took a pass going right through Kyren Williams hands to really give us the separation we needed to close the game.

Very well said....Purdy was amazing when it mattered and the team followed his lead. They all got confidence from their leader and that's when we turned the game around. Game manager came through lol.

If the 49ers win Sunday, Shanny will unequivocally be the best HC in the NFL, IMO. It will catapult him into a unique God-tier HC category as the 49ers get their first SB under him and continue to be serious contenders for more SBs into the future. We just need 1 to open the floodgates to a dynasty, baby.
