Agree, I thought Mike Shanahan had a role in Griese's hire. But credit to Kyle for tapping into some great coaching talent. He's grown a lot since 2017. He knows he'll have to replace all his coaches sooner or later.

NO MORE EXCUSES in this Super Bowl.. we are the better team... we have the better talent... and this KC team is so weak I expect us to win by at least 20 points..

only the RAIN will keep this game close..

I"m not as optimistic about this game as I usually am. It will take a perfect game for the 49ers to win. It can be done, Brock's done it in the past. But 49ers can't come out like they did against Green Bay and the Lions and expect to win. They have to come out in a dominating fashion and keep the pedal to the metal, or they can lose this game real easy.

Thats the reality of it. If Kyle really wants to become a HOF, he just needs One.
Do your thing Kyle & have a great game plan on Sunday!
I'm sure this has been discussed in this thread but it bears repeating. Kyle tends to play VERY conservative in big games. In order to win this game, we need to open it up and take shots. If he plans on handing the ball off to CMC over and over and over, Chiefs will load the box and run blitz all day long.

He needs to be aggressive and trust Brock to deliver. If he calls a conservative game, it plays right into what KC does well ie win those 21-14 type games.

But can Kyle role the dice or does he sit on his hands?

Kyle is obviously a great coach. You don't have the success the 49ers have without him. He's also built a work culture wherein a lot of assistants are being trained up and poached away by other organizations. All good things.

Andy Reid was Kyle Shanahan many years ago. It took him until he had arguably the best QB ever to break the label. Win or lose, Kyle is a great coach. If he wins, yes, he'll finally be able to shed a label but it won't change the fact he's a great coach.
Klye Shanahan must watch the whole Eagles vs. Chiefs Super Bowl championship game on YouTube. When it comes to making calls to attack by using a third down, Steve Spagnuolo is extremely astute. Shanahan needs to figure out how to make the third down successful.

Good news is Jennings has been on fire lately with the 3rd downs

Good.. Did you know, Jennings is tall and ideal for vertical when cornerback is short and can't match the tall guy for vertical, Jennings is fantastic. Shanahan needs to have a wise conversation with Purdy when he can quickly toss the ball to Jennings, Deebo, or Kittle for a few yards if Steve Spagnuolo calls for attacking on a third down.

I don't understand the narrative on Kyle. Some people say he's too conservative or "tight" in big games....others say he gets too cute (not running the ball). What is it? Nobody can get the damn narrative straight.

Well he's 8-3 in the playoffs, so he must be doing something right when it comes to winning big games.

He's not conservative in play calling IMO. He's appropriately aggressive.

Where he's definitely conservative is clock/game management and 4th down decision making… though he was better on 4th downs in the limited situations we had them this season.

Exactly! With ATL "He should have ran" against KC "Who should have passed"

I personally thought he called a brilliant game with ATL. The players didn't execute.

Against KC, my main gripe was Deebo not touching the ball in the 2nd half. He wasn't completely conservative that game. JG having 3 balls batted down in 2 critical drives gets us off the field and the perception is conservative.

Fair enough. He definitely isn't Dan Campbell regarding 4th down decisions, which is good.

Yeah their defense is as good as its been in a long time. Offense still has Mahomes and Kelce and WGAF about the rest.

With Omenihu out, it isn't as strong. I hope that makes a difference.
