Marty Mortinwheg went 2-14 his 1st year too it didn't mean he's Bill Walsh.

some thought he was the second coming of joe last week. i am so sick of the kyle bill walsh comparisons. he gets credit for losing close games then he deserves to get ripped for back to back blowouts,

no matter how many moral victories we have. winless is winless. how is he building a winning culture when the team is winless. no one has explained that one.

There is zero comparison between KS and Bill Walsh.... it's an absolute insult to insinuate any such thing could potentially ever exist.... Bill Walsh was offensive innovator, he changed the game.... KS has been a decent play caller at times.... More garbage time points and yards to make the situation seam less bleak than it is.... The Rams won the off season in an total rout.

Straw man arguments....NOBODY has said Kyle was Bill. NOT. ONE. SINGLE. GUY.

This is Grant Cohn level speak....that is it doesn't show any knowledge of actual football. Should've thrown more "Deep Balls" or "All Verts" or "Y stick N Nod", right?

And who gives a f**k what the Rams did?

its really hard to judge anything when the OL, the qb and the rb cant play consistently well.
in free-agency they should get a new QB and at least 2 OL. In the draft, they should pick up a RB and a few more backup OLinemen.
Drafting a QB to be successful is probabilistically foolish. So pay for a proven one - Cousins or otherwise.
RBs can be picked from college and tank the rest of the season, so that you can pick up someone like Saquon Barkley or trade with someone who you know is not going to pick him up.
And stop with the nonsense about trying to win now. This will leave the team in the perpetual going nowhere phase (assuming you can draft good players - which we're not sure about yet w/ this administration)

They went from a historically bad run defense to one that is far more improved this season. They've largely been solid on the defensive end despite so many new players, a new scheme and injury issues that have hit them hard. That to me is real improvement. I think people have short memories and have forgotten just how awful they were last year. Progress is going to take time. These guys pretty much blew up the roster and are largely starting from scratch to build the team in their vision and philosophy. That isn't going to just suddenly happen.

If we get towards the end of next season and they are still struggling this much and the results are as poor, then I'll be right there with you, but for now I see pretty much an expansion team with a ton of young players trying to find their way in the NFL.

Signing QB's in free agency also had the odds stacked against you. The results tend to look far more like Brock Osweiler than Drew Brees. Cousins is an exception due to the Redskins completely dropping the ball, guys like him, franchise QB's in their prime, pretty much never hit FA so if he is available, the 49ers need to do everything they can to sign him, but otherwise, your luck is better selecting from one of the top draft prospects.

Do you not recall after that season the media calling for him to be fired? How about the start of the 80 season. ? Win 3 then lose 8 in a row.
This is the almost groundhogs day all over. A lot of new and young players trying to figure out a new system. Only difference here is our prior GM really depleted us in terms of talent and depth on this roster. We had mince meat going into this season.

Injuries and lack of depth and talent this is the exact result you'd expect. Lol you really think our mgmt is confused into what to do with the players?

Fk man so many whiners on th zone it's embarrassing yet hey that's our nickname so it is what it is. What did people think we were going to do this year?
Apparently so many people on here have unrealistic expectations it's comical. Full rebuild folks. Wake up to reality. Reality is our past GM hamstrung is badly with this roster. Big time. IMHO I figured 3 drafts under this mgmt and we would see a big move come year 3/4. Patience is a virtue folks. I know that's not a reality for some

Good post.

Yep, good post. But, we were showing flashes in year two coming back from 28 points down on New Orleans and winning. That's just hard to see for next year from here.

Really depends on how the offseason goes. Getting the OL fixed up has to be the main priority. Its hard to run or pass when 3/5 of your OL is a huge gaping hole. If they address that, if they sign a guy like Cousins or draft a top QB prospect and they actually work out, someone like a Rosen, then I can see them being a much improved team next season just on the basis of upgrading the OL and getting a new QB alone.

I did not expect us to be 0-16 but easily an under 4 win team.

Are there any stud OL prospects at the top of the board for the '18 draft?

And you'll be here to complain about how imperfect of a win it is.

Well said!

What is happening here is Shanahan got over-confident and Lynch too for that matter.

He thought he could just churn over the roster, cut anyone he wanted and smoke Chip Kelly's record from last year with his eyes closed.

Err, no!! It ain't happening.

0-16 on its way whether we like it or not and he is going to break every single all-time losing record for the franchise!!

This is pathetic!!
