49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

I agree with that Chiefs dude..this is more on Shanny. I was impressed with how the Niner defense played in the SB. Lots of pressure on Mahomes. I was not impressed with the offense at all. I knew that last drive was dead in the water..I really feel like this game is rigged man. Like why such bad play calling? I mean most of us don't have coaching experience and can figure some stuff out. I hated that last drive. We needed 7 pts. That was pretty clear to me. And not sure about receiving the ball. This has to he rigged. NFL wanted Swift and her hot tempered bf to be all the chatter. Sucks cause we have a lot more class..you don't see our players acting like kids if things don't go their way. I was disappointed with Shanny again. Not as much as the first time he lost..cause yeah, I knew what could happen when push came to shove. Just can't produce well enough.

There's no performance if it's rigged. The funny part of your post is how you keep flip flopping.

I get what you mean. I think what's most frustrating when looking back at games you lost, you pinpoint small things that if done differently we probably win. Like on both 3rd and 4's we probably get those 4 yards by running CMC two times. Instead, we play into the Chiefs actual strength, their secondary, and throw the ball. Running the ball would have left Chris Jones helpless. I'm a Shanahan supporter, but when I point at those moments I shake my head at him. What's even more frustrating is that there are Shanahan haters who predicted something like that would happen in the most clutch moments, and they did.

I get more and more frustrated when thinking about those 3rd and 4's. Brock didn't even throw an INT so there's no major error there to gripe about. The muffed punt and CMC's first drive fumble are tangible moments to be pissed about, but that's why coaching is so important. This game could very well go down as one of the tightest contests ever. Was it the greatest SB or best game ever? Probably not. But you could argue that thing could have gone either way at any moment and neither team, coaching staff, or fanbase felt in control. We just putzed it away and didn't get the positive result.

You sum it up well. Add in our team leaders saying we weren't prepared for OT and didn't know what was going on. KC was ready. Surprisingly only 2 OT SBs, and Kyle was in the other one. One would think if anyone knows the possibility of a OT SB, it would be him.

The analytics helped him. The same analytics that he willfully ignores for every other situation, mind you…

The Chiefs guy is right. It just wouldn't be something you want to say while going through an interview process. But he's correct about what he said. Another Shanahan bungle in the Super Bowl. Melted down again and couldn't handle the pressure.

He's laughing at Shanny or just a homer...

I hope he's hired....if Kyle's ego was not no big he would say"How can I improve next time...What did you see that gave the defense an easy way to stop it", now we all know Shanahan's Ego is too big by maybe we can hope he took it down a notch.
Shanahan is who I feared he was when we hired him. I hoped against hope he was smart enough to learn from his mistakes and adapt. Sadly for us, he has not learned from his mistakes and adapted. Close games come down to coaching. We lose big games because we get out coached. I know he's not on the field making plays, and some losses do come down to the overthrown pass, the dropped INT, the missed block. His job is to put the team in the best position to win.

The worst thing for me though is that he never admits his mistakes. Someone asks about a questionable play or strategy and without hesitation and with a straight face he will have a smug response - e.g., wouldn't do anything different, it was a perfect game plan, etc. Who goes into the NFCCG with Josh Johnson as your QB2?

He's a good coach, better than most. And I'm not calling for him to be fired. But if he doesn't start learning and adapting, we're going to need some serious good fortune to help us win the 6th SB Championship with him as HC, even with the stacked roster we have.

Me too. Addition for us and a subtraction from the team that is going for the threepeat. No team is allowed to threepeat. Except, maybe us, in 3 years.
The big ask if Kyle hires from outside, is let's empower that hire, to use their vision on D. Let's not ask em to leave their scheme at home and coach one hand tied behind the back. That doesn't help anyone. Now if we want to run our 2022 style vision for the D forever, let's just hire internal.
