Washington's Joe Gibbs after losing to the Raiders with one of the most unprepared teams in a SB of all time.... Oh, wait. Never mind. They kept him and he won two more in the next eight seasons.
Not a single HC that lost a SB was fired before the next season in 1980-1990. I even threw in the 1979 season since the SB was in Jan 1980. But, you know, pesky facts.
Joe Gibbs? Gibbs had a ring year 2. No surprise they kept him.
by year 7 (Shanny's years) Gibbs had 2 rings
Seifert was forced out, we all know it
Seifert was forced out after back to back loses in the divisional round to the Packers including a 1 and done situation at home when we had a dominant team on both sides of the ball.
Not sure why you're even bringing that up when we knew Seifert just ran with the team Bill put together and even then his personal stuff pushed us into making moves like trading Haley to Dallas and soon as the salary cap came into play suddenly he's not winning playoff games…almost like it's not that easy?
Either way not quite a SB losing, let alone SB winning HC getting fired is it?
Nice spin. He was fired for coming up short 2 years after winning a SB. And everyone knows the pressure EddieD put on Bill Walsh, and probably factored into his retiring after winning one.
the lengths some of you will go just to defend Kyle is amazing. You'll bring down any great head coach just to level him with Shanahan. Bill Walsh won 3 SBs. Your response…yea but he lost on another potential 4-5, therefore he's just like Kyle.
Seifert got fired for losing in the playoffs. Your answer. Seifert inherited a loaded offense from Bill Walsh. Kyle started from scratch therefore 2 SB losses are justified.
Just awful fanhood
Man shut up. You offer nothing to these conversations and can't even phrase your statements properly to avoid confusion.
Bill Belichick was just fired so those good ol days you're talking about literally happened a few months ago. If coaches aren't performing up to standards they get fired. That will happen with Kyle either.
And it's not taking anything away from Seifert to say he had Montana and Young on the roster and got handed the keys to a Ferrari from Walsh.
I'm pretty sure had Shanahan had either QB he'd have at least 1 SB to show for it by now if not 3+.
You know what Kyle hasn't done without HOF QBs and dealing with the salary cap? Lose in the wildcard or divisional round or go 1 and done in the playoffs.
So your comment is way off the mark again and completely ignorant of the state of today's NFL.
Shanahan just had this team in the SB, a game we lost in OT to a dynasty level team. Expecting or wanting him to get fired is definition of being a delusional fan.
