Ya it's pretty crazy...Idk which I like more, the old WZ or the new. I like it's more relaxed now and mods aren't reenforcing rules constantly, but then it also leads to spam stuff like this. 2006 English would've been handing out TOs left the right if they didn't stop with nonsense spams I would be guilty as well in the past with my Alex Smith takes, idk how many warnings and TOs I've raked up over the years lol

Ah yes, 2006 English. Happy days.

They are tough to beat.

Sbanahan is definitely the guy I want going up against them now and for years to come. There wasn't anything egregious in the loss, IMO, it was a few bum breaks that gave them the edge.

I am stoked about our chances next year.
Yeah, he has done so well against kc. They own him. They out coach him, out smart him and beat him at his own game. Kyle has been abused so bad by KC that Taylor Swift is releasing a song about it.

Still waiting on the tell all from the 2017 and 2021 drafts

2017 is just them making rookie mistakes. 2021 is the real juicy one. I have a feeling Kyle really wanted Mac and public pressure got to him and he has regret trading up since the pick was made.

Kyle gives no fs about what the public thinks. If you listen to his comments after the Bills game in 2020, you can tell he wanted more from the QB position. Jones was a better player, but he loved the potential of what Trey could be.

It was a dumb yet ballsy trade up to begin with. I'm not just saying that because it horribly crashed and burned. You spend that much capital on a known commodity. Now, in hindsight, I would have felt more comfortable if they blew all dem picks on TLaw. He was known and more polished than any of the other guys. Mac, Lance, and Fields were ? and did not warrant the picks. But we were desperate for a splash play while we had/have an elite team.

I respect it, it was just so dumb. Just don't do that again unless you know it's some sort of prodigy.
49ers Draft Strategy -- It seems to me that the 49ers consistently draft players for year 2 planning -- meaning they see a roster issue that needs addressing over a 2 year span, so they draft with the expectation that if the player doesn't work out as a starter in year 1 -- and they don't really need him too -- he is developing and solves a projected roster issue in year 2.

They do expect immediate contributions from Round 1 and 2 players, but not immediate starting caliber dominance from them -- expect say a top 10 pick.
>That would explain the 2 TEs drafted and seldom used last year.
>Late round corners that seem to come on in year 2 etc.
>Draft OL depth and develop it

There is one position where coaching up really doesn't seem to be able to make a player a "top notch starter" -- yes, rotational, but not dominant -- DL. You can't really coach up burst and power -- so that would explain their DL emphasis when they have a chance in the top of draft order.

The only thing that leave to be concerned about is LT. Given their low draft position I don't think they see remaining tackles in Rnd 2-7 as even eventual starters. So each year they pass on a Rnd 1 tackle puts more stress on their future -- unless they are factoring in that they just accept LT is something so important you address it in Free Agency at a premium price when you need to.

I think that's fair to say but I also think this year they kind of played the middle ground which made it odd a bit.

Pearsall, Green and Puni are all 5 year players IIRC which means for the most part they shouldn't need a ton of development. Obviously the jump from college to NFL is giant regardless if you're in college for 3 years or 5+ but I do think they made a concerned effort to get more seasoned players who may be able to jump in earlier.

So I think it was more about giving themselves options whether Deebo(Pearsall) or guys they may not be sold on RG/RT(Puni) or corners outside of Ward and Lenoir(Green)

But it also protects them from if Deebo is traded after this season, Feliciano is retiring and Burford may not be good enough, Banks up for FA and Ward/Lenoir contracts are up in the air after this season iirc.

So I think it was a smart effort to give them options for this season but also protect themselves for next year like you said. Look forward to camp to see these competitions play out.
check it out, get educated rookies

I was telling NC he's being ridiculous and arguing with himself. I don't think there was a single 49er fan that didn't want them to add OL help this off season.

NC rolled into whatever thread and turned it into a OL sucks fest. Dude couldn't even have a convo about draft prospects. As long as it had OL next to his name he wanted it. All I said was man get out of the draft forum if you're not gonna discuss guys. He already killed the OL thread with bias nonsense (and I still like NC).

I've been in here for a decade and I think it's safe to say everyone b***hes plenty (I got the warnings all the same haha 😬)

And they added OL help. It just wasn't 6 guys like some wanted.
Steve Young had some good points when talking about last season. We were in a very good position to win it...teams likely will be better this year..might be a tougher hill to climb. We should have won that darn game lol

He's right. Everything was setup last year. #1 seed. Down year for the AFC and especially the Chiefs who had a mediocre offense all year.

"It's going to get better, and we're probably not—I don't know if we'll get better, but hopefully, we can stay the same and still beat the rank and file with this amazing roster we have and the way that we deploy the guys in on offense. Then yeah, great. But what just happened was a big miss. It just was. It was too bad."

-Steve Young

Thanks Kyle
