They were a top defense led by one of the top defensive minds in the league. When you have Trent Williams getting beaten by a guy called up off the PS you can only blame it on the coach so much.

But yes...the whole thing was once KC went to press coverage and loaded the box to stop the run we struggled. Guys still gotta make their blocks and if your WRs aren't beating their guys it makes things challenging.

These were our non QB scramble runs in the 2nd half

9 yards

This is not exactly a "let's keep running at them" type of production.

Kyle's a good coach but he has certain DCs that tend to have what is known as ownage, see Schwartz for instance
let's call reality, reality

Exactly, can we not give credit to KC and also question Kyle? They aren't mutually exclusive.
If we are living in reality, we also lost our best lineman in those games

it's the HC... that's what it is.. Just look back at the Super Bowl winning teams who was not supposed to win.. just look at what their HC did.. and look at the losing teams on those Super Bowls and how they were supposed to win.. look back and see how and what their HCs did..

They went to the AFC championship game in 05 and lost to Pittsburgh.

lets not mention Elway that's like the SWH bat signal we will never hear the end of it
but for fun facts, the QB that replaced Elway, one Brian Griese

Plummer and Griese were more Jimmy Garapolo-esque than Elway, no argument there. But they *did* make multiple playoffs under those two QB's combined, but they never could get past the playoffs and into the Superbowl. I happen to think that the NFL caught up to the OLine Scheme's that they were running. QB's always going to be a factor in the playoffs - when is it not? Jimmy healthy - he makes it into the super bowl, when he's not healthy, he can't even get to the NFCCG. I think the Outside Zone Scheme Kyle runs, almost draws them to day 3 OLine picks that can get exposed in the playoffs against athletically more dominating *Playoff DLines.* I'm *not* saying get rid of the Outside Zone, what I'm saying is get *better* athletes in the day 2 range to run the Outside zone scheme so the 49ers aren't overmatched talent-wise on the offensive line in the playoffs. (Example: Burford vs Chris Jones)

The Puni Pick I think finally has the 49ers going in the right direction, and it too long in my opinion, for that to happen.

Key thing about Kyle is that he's learning. His OLines are adjusting to folks taking away his Outside zone by getting larger. He's employing bigger sturdier backs vs smaller backs that can't take the pounding. He's finally investing good draft capital in the DB squad where's previously - those were manned by free agents. He's finally gotten an elite level QB. He drafted an offensive lineman this year (two of them) vs last year when he didn't draft *any* offensive linemen. The problem for me, is that it takes a super bowl *loss* - in a sense - for him to learn his lessons and implement needed changes.

So no, on reality, got it lol
Kyle has a window of about 2 maybe 3 years to win a Superbowl and then the Niners will start falling away as this group of core players gets older, demands more money and their production starts to decline. Sure we might still make the play offs but we have a 2-3 year period now where we are at our zenith. If Kyle don't win one now, he could go to his grave without ever taking a team to Superbowl glory.

Last year homey. The core ends. Trent gone. Deebo gone. Aiyuk Kittle who knows. CMC probably down to one knee by years end.

After this year we start retooling. Who wants to retool with a 2 time Super Bowl loser ? ( mediocre fans raise their hands with glee )

Rebuilt a 2-14 team to a perennial SB contender within 3 seasons. He sucks.

Lol at these trolls
The point being we have to be chips in this year.

Of course, the fact that Kyle is cursed in Superbowls doesn't help.

Of course. The "at least he got us the silver medal" excuse.

I blocked him. I think he's the only person in here I've done that with but it was a great move. lol I don't mind having differing perspectives than some on here, that's normal, but his input is just worthless. Lol
