Kyle wouldn't be interested. He could have had them both but he passed in favor of Beathard and Jimmy G.

Yes, because both of them would audible Kyles plays off in the 4th Quarter of a Superbowl and run the offense themselves.
Not that I wish for injuries but I would love to see Andy Reid without Mahomes, Just for half the season. We know Kyle has already proven he can win games with average to less than average QB play. But we don't know that about Reid. Barring a serious injury we will never know because Reid will retire before Mahomes does.

COMMON DENOMINATOR IS THE HEAD COACH

As I've posted before, had our HC told 44 to stay and help the right side of the OL block 95, B-Rock Steady Purdy would have found YUCK at the back of the end zone so easily.

The guy is nothing more than a very good OC.. no difference than NORV - MARTZ - WYSCHE - JUNE JONES - SAMPESE - CHAO ..

Here's a crazy thought...how about the guys actually there do their job? Burford's job aka what he was COACHED to do.

Also 44 wasn't even on the field for that play. Why not ask Joe Staley to block while we're at it?

I fully remember 44 being in the play.... but nevertheless, how stupid a HC can be if he's expecting a young RG to block All World 95 when this guy should have been highlighted before calling the play..

You're DO THAT JOB should also apply to the HC... 2 downs to get a 1st down (2 yards) w/the best RB in football and he calls a stupid pass play..

So you think they didn't highlight 95 in every offensive meeting leading up to the game? That's the take you wanna go with?

Burford wasn't a rookie and guess what, he knew his role on the play. He went with his "gut" aka he did something what he knew was his responsibility. Every one of us understands you need to block Chris Jones on a key down.

Stop making stupid excuses when players actually own up to their mistakes just so you can turn yourself into a pretzel trying to blame the coach not doing his job or asking something crazy.

Burford wasn't asked to pancake Jones on the play. He literally just had to get in his way and he didn't even do that.

It was a 3rd and 4 so in what way was it a 2 yard situation to get a first down? And if you're claiming all they needed was 2 yards per attempt then what happens when you get 0 yards on a run on 2nd down? Think that impacts the playcalling?

And yes…Kyle called a "stupid pass play" a stupid pass play that had 2 guys open for TDs if Burford does his job, a job the coaches asked him to do, on the play.

Look forward to more of your mental gymnastics. Stick to stupid nicknames.

We really pulling out the stops to be ridiculous in this thread huh?

Yes Kyle totally selected Beathard over a prime Mahomes. And everyone knows the Tom Brady we saw on that 2019 Pats team looked to be in his Prime as he turns 23…

Thinking Kyle wouldn't take those guys in a vacuum is just so dumb.

Mahomes was an unknown prospect with many flaws in his game by almost every account. KC took him where they did and got a ton of flak for it but sure Kyle as a first time HC should've taken him at #2 overall after taking over a team that was horrendous the year prior with a historically awful defense.

Fact is we know what Kyle's vision was and we never got to see it play out. Kirk Cousins gets his hate but he's clearly a pretty good QB. We have no idea where we end up had we simply held our 2nd round pick from Jimmy and signed Cousins in FA the next offseason.

You can argue had we not brought in Jimmy and signed Kirk we'd have a higher pick in 2018, allowing us to trade down and selecting McGlinchey and getting extra draft capital to improve the team. Now obviously we don't know what would've happened in 2018 with Cousins but if we project the same situation do we really think Cousins isn't able to get us to the SB in 2019 with that same roster, a roster that would be even better with the extra picks we'd have?

But hypotheticals aside…the fact is Kyle didn't "pass" on prime Brady or prime Mahomes.

Reid won with Alex Smith. Reid won with McNabb

I don't think either guy is that much better than Jimmy G.

He's 2-2 without Mahomes.

Last win without Mahomes was their rest week to end last regular season where Blaine Gabbert won the game 13-12 with a defensive TD by KC lol.

Not a fair test for Andy since other starters were sitting too but that record doesn't scream SB if Mahomes ever misses major time.

Then again we have 19 years of Andy without Mahomes and there was definitely no SB win there.

lol you joking right? Maybe the version of Alex Smith we had but not the 2018 version.

Thinking Jimmy G is comparable to McNabb is hilarious tho. McNabb was a MUCH better QB than Jimmy.

But what did Andy win with Alex exactly? He never sniffed a conference game with him let alone the SB. Kyle has never made the playoffs and didn't win at least 2 games.

Another reason the whole Kyle sucks narrative is bonkers.

The lengths some of you will go just to defend Kyle is hilarious. Here's a new one. Kyle is a great head coach because he's never not made the playoffs at won at least two games (ignore the elephant in the room that he's lost 2 Superbowls). It's his pre-Super Bowl success that makes him awesome at what he does.

I grew up in South Jersey around Eagles fans so I know way more than I want to about Eagles Andy Reid.

We all know he was most successful with McNabb (pre Mahomes). People bash McNabb, but I'd rate him a 7/10 QB. He was....good. Then he had one year of success with Jeff Garcia and Michael Vick. Both were good but aging QBs who were trying to resurrect their careers. Other than that he sucked with backup QBs.

Koy Detmer sucked and they lost a lot of games. He couldn't make it work with Mark Sanchez. Jeff Blake sucked when he had to step in. A.J. Feely was garbage when he had to play. So on an so forth. So yea QB matters. Reid was very average before Mahomes

Where? His record is absolutely garbage without a good QB. Like literally one of the worst in all of the NFL.

amen brother, this is why Brock's offseason and improvement probably is the top 49er storyline

Statistically, Brock was as good as any QB In the league last season, so It's not always as simple as having the best QB In the league.
Can't quote for some reason....

Jimmy wasn't a special QB, however, I argue heavily that peak Alex Smith (2017 KC) was better in some ways but not in all. He also had Tyreek Hill and prime Kelce.

Jimmy has far more critical 3rd down conversions than Alex ever did. Alex never could've done what Jimmy did in 2017...

Both QBs seemed to suffer a bit from traumatic injuries affecting their play.

Overall, both were limited enough that they couldn't be franchise QBs that carry you to Lombardis, but Jimmy was closer to a Lombardi than Smith (and actually played in the SB).

I know it's trendy to bash Jimmy, but that 1/11 3rd down conversion from the 2011 NFC Championship still lingers heavily in my mind.

In a best case scenario for both, Alex had higher upside when drafted and had amazing mental strength. But I'm not so sure he was better than Jimmy.

What did he win with those guys? according to some on this board, you either win a SB or you suck

Jimmy had a far superior offensive minded play caller than Alex Smith had.
