Its not ending the game earlier. You have to get that onside kick 100 percent of the time if you have no timeouts and it's past the 2 min warning.
If you try the onside before the 2 min warning. You could buy yourself 30 seconds or so if you can stop 3 straight runs (if you don't recover onside kick).
The reality is we were pretty much f**ked either way. Such a low chance to recover the onside.

We weren't going undefeated. Super Bowl is in February. They'll get back on track.

Lets say we do go another direction, more than likely they are gonna want to shape the roster to their own. Get ride of some of these big contracts. So we start fresh and rebuild? Which means we won't even be in the playoff mix for a couple years or more. Back to the Nolan, Erickson years. I get it shanny can't get over that hump, but one of these days he will. Ahh...won't matter anyway, after this year we're probably gonna lose some key guys.

Imo deebo did great today. He was a monster in the middle. Kittle was good too. Aiyuk was the ghost with the most again lol but I do agree with your thinking.
What bothers me is Purdy avoided some deep throws I felt were there. Is this coaching ? Because he was always looking deep first in previous seasons. Today he played more like Jimmy g, but that's not fair to Purdy lol he certainly didn't play to what we've come to expect.
Belichick mentioned this during the Jets game on the Manning cast. He said the 49ers are a throw middle team and to be successful against them you need to clog the middle and make them throw outside the numbers. He didn't mention the QB being the issue, he made it sound like its all game plan.

What if he focuses all his energy on beating KC, gets to the SB... and KC isn't there? If he beats another AFC team in the SB will it count less?

1) Top 5 Defense
2) Bad record vs Minnesota , ever since Farve threw that last second game winning bomb.
3) freak INT off of Juicecheck.
4) freak blocked Punt.
5) red zone problems
6) Million dollar AIYUK NOWHERE to be found.Half asking routes.
All of these factors, yet the niners ALMOST pulled off a win.

Really a pretty smart idea.
I was hoping they would do that as well. Instead they wasted timeouts and the 2 minute warning. Would have been nice to get 3 with about 2:30 left. Would have left us with an actual chance.
