Not what I'm saying at all. Just saying in this specific game time of possession would not have been greatly increased with more run plays in the second half, and compared to the faults of the defense and special teams it is far, far, far down the list for why this specific loss happened.
By the way, you know how many 10+ minutes drives the Chiefs had last year on their way to win the Super Bowl? 0
They had one 9+ min drive and two 8+ min drives all season & playoffs.
How did Reid ever win the Super Bowl then?! Well, because his defense got stops in key situations at the end of close games.
BTW, last year, the 49ers had one 9+ min drive and one 8+ min drive. So right in line with what the Chiefs were doing.
12 minute drives are unicorns. Most successful teams have 6-7 minute scoring drives these days when they're driving the length of the field and trying to run clock. Just look at the Chiefs and 49ers box scores last year.
A 6-7 minute drive *IS* the standard for time consuming drives in the NFL in 2024.
