A lot of that talent has been hurt this year. So based on who has been on the field. Yes they should be a 5-4 team.

They lost to a banged up Rams team that had more injuries than them that week.
They almost lost to a Tampa team yesterday that was missing its starting LT, top two WRs, and Baker was banged up.
The injury thing has been overblown. They have had one of their best draft classes in years to supplement depth and the guys who have filled in for the injured players (Mason, Ricky, etc) have done a good job.

This isn't college football. You don't get any less credit for the win if its a close game. A wins a win.

Just as you don't get to cite injuries as an excuse when the team loses. Especially when the team has plenty of talent and depth to compensate.

They played down to their opponent yesterday. And this wasn't the first time they've done it. That's on the coaching.

Let me jump in this, but there is a lot of talent on this team due to coaching. Did you think George Kittle became the superstar overnight after being a 5th round pick? Jimmy G., looked like an Pro Bowl QB under Shanahan, after his journey with the 49ers, he's nothing but a back up in the NFL. I think the only player the 9ers drafted that became a super start overnight is Nick Bosa.

The 49ers missed three FG's yesterday, which would've given the team a huge cushion for a win. The Special Teams yesterday made a ton of mistakes, I agree that was on the ST coach/coaching. Sure the offense had some struggles, but overall they were the reason the 9ers were still in this game. As for the defense, again, coaching, Nick Sorensen has to go. The defense has been a problem for this team this whole season, regardless if it's a win or a loss, something needs to be done.

I wanted to be mad at Sorensen yesterday, but we allowed only 215 total yards. That's despite the fact that Bosa wasn't effective while hurt, Ward was out, and Green had to leave the game too.

The only reason that game was even close was special teams. Tampa had crazy starting field position almost all game due to our special teams gaffes.

Luter gifted Tampa 7 points.
Moody left 9 points off the board. Without those mistakes, we would've blown them out probably 29-10. Schneider needs to go. If guys keep making the same mistakes, he's clearly not coaching them right.
Does this apply to all coaches?

lol got em. The hypocrisy is evident. Hold all players and coaches accountable except the guy that's in charge of them all. He's never at fault 😂

Trolls gonna troll.......troll.

TBH I think Kyle allows guys a chance to turn it around. Schneider has been able to fix things before, but at this point, I think he gets fired after this season or replaced if his contract is up.

I'm not sure on Sorensen to this point. We had our best defensive day statistically without some guys, but Tampa was missing a lot of guys.

not that there's any push, it's the type of runs called. the defense doesn't have to think, they just stuff the middle.

Well that is def a valid point, but I didn't want to give the Dr too much ammunition

Certainly an improved o-line would simply help. I saw Banks and Brendel get destroyed a few times yesterday and its incredibly frustrating.
I hear ya lol

I'm pro shanny, but i don't think he is flawless. There are def things that could be improved, but the Pros still outweigh the cons by a large margin for me still.

His coaching staff has been pillaged over the past few seasons and it takes few weeks to get those new coaches up to speed. Once again he's dealing with another rookie DC. From the list below, Kubiak and Sorensen have new titles. The others are new to the team.

  • Cameron Clemmons - Assistant Offensive Line
  • Klay Kubiak* - Offensive Passing Game Specialist
  • Mick Lombardi - Senior Offensive Assistant
  • Nick Sorensen* - Defensive Coordinator
  • Brandon Staley - Assistant Head Coach/Defense
  • K.J. Wright - Defensive Quality Control

For sure we all agree more than disagree. I know I can be vocal about what I don't like, but I also know he's a good coach and I don't think he should be fired. The coaching changeover is obvious and its worn him out a bit. TBH he looks a bit weathered out there and I would like to see him having more fun.
Can somebody explain to me what staley actually does?

It does not appear to me that he checks Sorenson on defense or shanahan on offense as our schemes are so vanilla. They are the same or simpler than years past on both sides of the ball. There's no creativity.

Is staley just a yes man on the payroll?

There are a bunch of articles regarding his role with the team. He's there for the defensive side only and helps with the game plan.

IMHO I believe that the Oline is the problem as well however Shanny is sipping this year on play calling. Will he get better I hope so. The OL has needed an upgrade for 3 years. Maybe with Feliciano starting at center we will be better. McKivitz is still there so we may need Kittle to help him which takes him out of the passing plays. He is too good out there to hold him back in coverage.

At the EOY we go to a new o line coach and focus on the draft for OL help. It is killing us and has been for years.
while OL isn't the top position in team strength, it isn't the main issue. We've made it to 4 NFCCG and 2 SBs without having a top OL.

The OL is getting better year by year and Brock has the highest TTT.

I think Brock's hesitancy and RZ running plays are slowing us down.

Yeah I've noticed Purdy's hesitation as well but that may be from the play call or just that the receivers are not running the routes shifty enough to get open. Ayuik is missed maybe Parsells can step up.

I think the team made it far the last years in spite of the o line. It's not breaking holes open this year. When Feliciano comes back and plays center the middle may have better shifts to open more holes. We shall see. It needs to get better however it happens. Puni is a stud though really like his game.

Kyle should not be held to the same standard as a special teams coach. A guy who led us to multiple SBs and some awesome playoff wins is not in the same stratosphere as a failing special teams coach. Kyle hired him, and Kyle should fire him. Or light a fire under him.

It's unacceptable, quite frankly.
I've been a Kyle supporter all along and thnk he's doing a decent job considering all the internal coaching changes and the injuries and holdouts they had this season. However I've always felt he was an OC at his core and I wish they coud have kept Harbaugh as HC and hired Kyle as OC. That would have been ideal assuming they could get along. Harbaugh doesn't get the recognition he deserves because he's so quirky and sometimes is hard to wok with. He's the only coach I can think of that has been very successful everywhere he's gone from small college to a brainy school like Stanford. Then to the Niners and back to college. Now he's got the Chargers playing really good even without any great WRs. The guy just seem to get the best out of his players.

1. They run completely different systems, it would of been like when Kyle was in Cleveland.

2. Kyle would of left to be a head coach and i'm 100% sure fans who complained about Harbaugh then and are complaining about Shanahan now, would of been suggesting we should of fired Harbaugh and kept Shanahan. Its what fans do.

And Bill Belichick as DC and John Harbaugh as ST coach.
