I wanna fire Kyle cause he's had 8 years here, 3 years with the best roster in football and he still can't close it out. But it doesn't matter what we all think. It matters what Jed thinks and Kyle is Jed's buddy. You shannistans get what you want, Kyle cemented here as our head coach. If he couldn't get it done last year with that roster, there's no way in hell he gets it done with anything less. This year is but a small glimpse of what we will get for the next couple of years with Kyle.

Its tough because I agree with the bolded, but I still hold out some hope. He needs a real mental reset while also cleaning out half his coaching staff this offseason with some fresh blood.

That in itself is the problem. We assume that he's capable of winning one because he "almost" did….thrice. But that's nothing more than false pretense. In the majority of his NFCC and Super Bowl losses, he had the better team, the more talented roster. He can't close the deal because he's not a good coach. An excellent offensive coordinator? Yes. But a coach ? Not even close.

The problem is who is a closer? Who could you replace him with? Another OC or DC that would be a crapshoot like so many that fail? A college coach? He's still among the top 5 coaches in the league. Only one (Reid) has shown that he's really a step above the rest.

Strawman argument from Kyle supporters. The answer is whoever they bring in will likely have the same amount of SB victories as Kyle Shanahan: ZERO. Now what you're arguing is will they be good enough to lose in the NFCC game or even better Super Bowl ? I argue yes….i think there are coaches out there that can utilize the most talented roster in football and possibly win the NFCC game AND the Super Bowl. And I think we should give them a chance bc Kyle got 8 chances and failed on all 8.

I'll also point out that 3 time Super Bowl winner Andy Reid had the same problem in Philadelphia with multiple NFCC losses and a Super Bowl loss. The Philadelphia Eagles have made TWO Super Bowls and WON one with two different coaches since Andy Reid's departure.

which renders your argument as nothing more than a scare tactic. You assume Kyle will be replaced by an inept coach which means we will not make the playoffs for the next 20 years. You are wrong…along with the rest of the Shanafans here that spread this type of misinformation…
Hiring an assistant HC with n offensive background could at least add some new wrinkles to the offense. That assumes that Kyle is willing. I want a new DC as well that plays a more aggressive style. More blitzing or at least showing blitz more often. We saw what happens with the wide 9 when you don't have a good edge rusher.
Forget about the playcalling. The guy is just way too conservative. He never, ever, makes a Dan Campbell-like 4th down call.

The first drive of the game, 4th and less than 1 yard. YOU GO FOR IT there. It doesn't matter that it's the first drive. When it's less than 1 yard the chances of picking up the first down are so exponentially high that you have to go for it.

How about the 4th and 6 from the Seattle 42 yard line? Why not go for it there and just end the game. You know you are without Bosa. Just get a 1st down and ice the game away. If you don't get it, you they still have to go 58 yards. The punter ended up kicking it into the end zone which was another laughable mistake by the ST unit given they didn't even have a return man back. He will never take a risk on offense and always puts the pressure on the defense to finish the game.

We have had some insane talent (more so when no injuries) as good as any in the league and to miss the SB twice is really messed up. It will never get better talent wise then what it was with the cap about to take a huge hit. I think he needs an OC to assist.

You really believe Shanahan is going to allow that to happen?

I agree with this, even Reid does this with Biennemy and now with Matt Nagy (as OC's,)

If next year is another disaster, then I think we will start hearing about him being fired. I think he has until then to right the ship.

Why not……
Hes already wasted what SHOULD HAVE BEEN another 49er dynasty. It's kind of obvious that door is officially shut. What difference is another year or 2 of Kyle gonna matter at this point in time…….

The guys looks spent like the rest of the team. Wouldn't be surprised to see him take time away and quit this year.

Too much ego. Until he wins a SB on his own, he will never ask for help. I don't know if that SB will happen in SF.

Especially after what happened vs LA and Zona, you'd think Shanahan would figure out that maybe putting it in the STs / defense hands at the end of games is not the right tactic. But nope. The clown never learns. Inside the opponents side of 50. Chance to close out the game. Decides to kick it away for a net 22 yard punt.

and we defend this s**t ?

Yea. Any one posting this is kidding themselves. Kyle is not relinquishing power and even if he does it will be to some lower tiered assistant that will serve as dummy OC while he's still calling the shots.

So Jed, Kyle and John are all in a room and Jed proposes that. Kyle says no. Then what?

Jed:
"I'm sorry for making such a stupid suggestion Kyle. How about another 5 year extension?!"
