Won't be after this year. We will be in cap purgatory overpaying for a QB and be similar to the cowboys if we aren't already.

I agree with others that Kyle's passing concept leave much to be desired, but Brock's gonna be your $60M QB, dude has to elevate guys around him. Period.

Josh Allen willed his team to victory yesterday. His top WR was Shakir and Allen was their best RB.

Made it to a SB and NFCC. Is what it is…if he's the real deal then it doesn't matter if he's getting paid a f**k ton, his play should offset the lost talent due to cap restraints.

I'm happy with Purdy but I never viewed him as a top 5 QB. He is good when he has the talent around him but he's not going to put the team on his back very often. When you pay a young QB big bucks you better have enough young talent to support him. Unfortunately most of the Niners offensive talent is aging and may not be around to help him.

Compare the Niners to the Lions. They have a veteran (but not too old) QB with a young O line and young receivers. Perfect combo.

He's showing he's a good qb, not a takeover the game elite qb. Can't pay that a record setting salary.

seems we are drifting into irrelevant territory with a good QB who has some limitations, and will get paid. good enough to win some games, but sliding downhill.

It's his third season on a team that's checked out mentally. I don't think his career is defined yet. Does make it hard to know what to pay him right now though

How's he supposed to take over a game when he can't audible at the line and is handcuffed into whatever play shanahan says they are running?

Take the handcuffs and training wheels off and let him either fly from the nest or splat on the ground.

Shanahan won't let him change the play or call his own plays.

Franchise QBs are supposed to be good enough that you don't have these kind of seasons. 11-10 wins should be a lock .

franchise QB is a very subjective term

60 million dollar QBs are supposed to be good enough that you don't have these kind of seasons.

This whole idea is so tired. The only reason Brock is slated to be a $60M a year QB is because thats how much QBs are paid now. Its his turn for a contract, and thats why it will be what it is.

Here is a list of the top 10 QBs in salary for 2024:

Dak Prescott
Trevor Lawrence
Joe Burrow
Jordan Love
Tua Tagovailoa
Justin Herbert
Lamar Jackson
Jalen Hurts
Kyler Murray

How many of the above QBs "elevate guys around him?" Three? Five?

Notice you dont see the best two QBs in the NFL on that list. Why? Because they were locked up a whole back when it was THEIR turn to get paid.

They have a crazy schedule and an over the hill roster that is dealing with injuries and a sb hangover. And their coach has a passing scheme that gets picked apart by former QBs. Not the greatest spot for a young qb
