But there is something to be said for being a big, tall, big stature guy with a cannon arm. Strangely Shany never likes these guys. Even actively kicks them out of town. It's weird at this point. He just wants somebody who is submissive and will run his dumb plays. That's the requirement.

Darnold signed a one year deal with us and was a free agent this past off-season. Minnesota offered the chance to compete for the starting gig.

Darnold hasn't thrown 5 picks in a game this year, that was Goff.

He could have recognized the talent though and signed him to a deal. The thing his he doesn't want a big, strong prototype QB with a big arm. He wants a submissive QB who will call his dumb plays and not question him. This isn't a criticism of Purdy BTW for those who are thinking that. I'm criticizing Shanahan. He gets a QB with a live arm and doesn't even want it. IMO Shany needs to go. You can't ever win with him. Never.
The single most polarizing head coach in NFL history.
Theres a fine line between greatness and ineptitude. Shanahan vacillates between the two areas quite often.
Multiple NFCCG's and 2 SB appearance with 4th qtr leads. He's also largely the reason they lost both of those games.

I don't see this guy as someone who works hard to improve on his craft in the offseason and come back as a better head coach. He rolls the same crap out there every week. Opposing head coaches know every play this guy is calling. It's getting embarrassing.

The manner in which he blew 3 games to LA; SEA and ZONA is firable imo. I t truly believe he's maxed out his ability in terms of how far he can take this team. He doesn't want to put in the work. He's content with his stupid scheme that's been figured out. It's time for him to go.

i'd just hate for him to wash up in Dallas and give them a physical approach they are sorely lacking. why don't we sit him down and talk the biggest issues and how to remediate.

You can never win with him. No way.

This would be some turnaround If Kyle could some how find a way of beating both, The Packers and the Bills on the road In back-to-back weeks.

In Kyle we trust.

Eh, three out of next five a lot of frigging traveling (GB, Bills, Miami). Then of the other two of five not traveling so far is a Thursday Night game(short week). Then the very last two Detroit and AZ. It doesn't sound very promising if things continue as is. This is pretty brutal even if things were better.

Then let's not look that far ahead. Let's look at it game by game, starting this Sunday in Green Bay. Treat each game going forward like a playoff game and come out ready to play while limiting the mistakes - in all three phases (especially Red Zone penalties and Special Teams).

Let's see how they respond to this latest round of adversity, starting with this next game in Green Bay. Hoping Bosa isn't out as this D really needs him for GB and the remainder of the season. Seattle's only two TDs yesterday came after Bosa left with his injury. If Bosa can't go, other guys have to step up and get it done.

Strange you changed it from one of the best offensive minds to best offensive mind. Also his down year is 8th in points and 2nd in yards.

Won't be after this year. We will be in cap purgatory overpaying for a QB and be similar to the cowboys if we aren't already.

it was a historic gift we seemingly squandered

Made it to a SB and NFCC. Is what it is…if he's the real deal then it doesn't matter if he's getting paid a f**k ton, his play should offset the lost talent due to cap restraints.
He's showing he's a good qb, not a takeover the game elite qb. Can't pay that a record setting salary.

We don't have to. We can let him play out and franchise if necessary.

Im with you. It's the same reason why observers and fans say he's cocky, stubborn, and will only do things his way. He thinks his system is above all and is inflexible. The league has adapted and the man coverage and free rusher blitzes will continue until he changes something.
Him and Forester have said they can make a good Oline with low draft picks, journeyman and FA. Their s**t is that good and don't stink.

He needs to change his ways, needs to get better help with coaches, and needs to draft OLinemen.

Darold had every reason to test the market and see if he couldn't find a team that would give him a chance to earn a starting role.

Free agency is a two way street.

Spot on about Brock.

I agree with others that Kyle's passing concept leave much to be desired, but Brock's gonna be your $60M QB, dude has to elevate guys around him. Period.

Josh Allen willed his team to victory yesterday. His top WR was Shakir and Allen was their best RB.

Bills won because McDermott went for the kill and trusted his offense(Josh Allen) on 4th and 2 to win. Shanny on the other hand is afraid of his own offense. He's so petrified of making the wrong decision that he constantly makes the the wrong decision.

Yup Shanny would have watched Moody miss that FG and Mahomes would continue unbeaten, Reid a genius and people would justify the coaches decision.

Kyle needs to grow a pair of adult balls and call plays like he did in the 3rd quarter of our NFCCG against the Lions.

Yea, we weren't paying a backup QB 8 figures just because he's talented. Blaming Kyle for rolling with Purdy, an MVP candidate, and maximizing the ability to go cheap at the position (including the backups) is pretty damn dumb.

Except he never adjusts. He needs to go.

No one is taking credit away from Kyle for building this team. But that doesn't mean he gets a pass indefinitely for his inability to fulfill what he was hired for. He's maxed out. Last year was basically his ceiling. Minimal injuries. Star studded team. Home field advantage achieved by week 16. Plenty of time to gear up and finish the job. Instead we stumbled our way through the playoffs and KC put us out of our misery.

He's never going to beat that. That's glaringly apparent. Time to move on and find someone that can finish the job…
