Yes, but you're missing the obvious point of course. We were looking for an elite talent at the position. The thing you say Shanny doesn't want (simply because he hasn't had one yet)

Kyle can't pick them to save his life. He had a top 3 pick on his team with a rocket arm and prototype size. 6'3 -1/2" 225 lbs. Sam Darnold. 1 - 3 overall in the draft. He couldn't do jack with him. O'Connell turned him into an instant star in 1 year! Kyle is clueless and useless. So overrated. O'Connell is more QB whisperer than Shany. It's not even close.

So now you are advocating they should have been starting darnold over your Brock star ? too funny, but par for the course

That's not what I said at all. Read the posts in totality and try again.

Well elaborate then. How was Darnold to get on the field over your beloved Brock star?

Him getting on the field for us is not the argument at all. Brock_STAR is not the argument either. Nor am I in any way coming down on him (Brock).

The argument goes as follows.

* Shany did nothing with Darnold and couldn't get anything out of him. Shany = SLUG.

* O'Connell turned Darnold into a STAR in 1 year! O'connell = STUD coach of QB's. Since he was a QB.

It absolutely is. How was KS to get anything out of darnold when he had that Brock star you told everyone was a top 3-5 QB ahead of him? That would have meant that Darnold outperformed him and was better, so you are saying he should have been starting over Brock star.

No he should have been able to recognize there is something there and DEVELOP him. Because O'connell can see it and get it out of him right away. I never said Brock was top 3 BTW. He's a very good young QB. Who is pretty athletic. But doesn't have the most elite physical traits. That doesn't mean I don't like him or think he's good. Don't misunderstand it. Just he may not have prototype size and arm strength. Scrambling is good but he's not Lamar or Fields for running around either. I'm not calling that bad. Just some physical traits he is good enough but not great. He does it more by processing. Which you can do it that way. It is one way and a different way. Like Steve Young says his processing is his elite trait. Which is great. Because a lot of guys are actually horrible at that.

Your argument regarding Darnold makes no sense, and it was already addressed.

We weren't going to spend 8 figures for a backup QB after Purdy showed he could stay healthy and do the job at a high level last season. Even if we had, Darnold would not be playing this year and his salary going forward would be even less ideal once we pay Purdy.

And that says nothing about Darnold's interests, which included a chance to start. That wasn't happening here.

Now tell me why Shany couldn't recognize anything in him or get anything out of him? While O'Connell easily can in 1 year!

Lol. He got exactly what he was looking for. A quality backup in case Brock wasn't healthy or played poorly, and because Lance was useless.

We play one quarterback, and that's Brock Purdy. The brock star. He throws touchdowns and wins games… and every other bot-like thing you repeat.

Were you expecting Kyle to start Darnold over Purdy? I can just picture you having a s**t fit over such a silly idea last year.

lol @ thinking Darnold is a star. Good lord.

This is by far the best he ever played. He's throwing rockets down the field. Even did against us too. He doesn't want a QB who is big, strong and with a big arm. He wants somebody to run his DINK and DUCK offense and don't ask too many uncomfortable questions. Like why can't we audible at the line of scrimmage?

If you're using Sam darnold to bolster your argument you probably already lost

Why can O'Connell get this much out of him? But Shany can't get anything out of him. It's interesting.

It coouuullldddd be that Sam wasn't the starting qb for the 49ers and is for the viking 🤷‍♂?🤷‍♂?

I'm not sure what you're getting at beyond just stringing words together. Do you think darnold should have started over purdy? If yes, we've got a whole other topic to cover. If your answer is no, you have no point at all.

he was a backup here. He starts for another team now. He's obviously going to perform to his potential as a starter, and he's obviously going to hold the clip board as a backup.

Let's move past this so we can continue s**tting on Kyle for real reasons

Oh s**t perhaps Sandiego49ers was suggesting the two-qb system. I hadn't thought of that….apologies SD I'll have to put more thought into my argument
