Yes, but you're missing the obvious point of course. We were looking for an elite talent at the position. The thing you say Shanny doesn't want (simply because he hasn't had one yet)
Kyle can't pick them to save his life. He had a top 3 pick on his team with a rocket arm and prototype size. 6'3 -1/2" 225 lbs. Sam Darnold. 1 - 3 overall in the draft. He couldn't do jack with him. O'Connell turned him into an instant star in 1 year! Kyle is clueless and useless. So overrated. O'Connell is more QB whisperer than Shany. It's not even close.
So now you are advocating they should have been starting darnold over your Brock star ? too funny, but par for the course
That's not what I said at all. Read the posts in totality and try again.
Well elaborate then. How was Darnold to get on the field over your beloved Brock star?
Him getting on the field for us is not the argument at all. Brock_STAR is not the argument either. Nor am I in any way coming down on him (Brock).
The argument goes as follows.
* Shany did nothing with Darnold and couldn't get anything out of him. Shany = SLUG.
* O'Connell turned Darnold into a STAR in 1 year! O'connell = STUD coach of QB's. Since he was a QB.
It absolutely is. How was KS to get anything out of darnold when he had that Brock star you told everyone was a top 3-5 QB ahead of him? That would have meant that Darnold outperformed him and was better, so you are saying he should have been starting over Brock star.
No he should have been able to recognize there is something there and DEVELOP him. Because O'connell can see it and get it out of him right away. I never said Brock was top 3 BTW. He's a very good young QB. Who is pretty athletic. But doesn't have the most elite physical traits. That doesn't mean I don't like him or think he's good. Don't misunderstand it. Just he may not have prototype size and arm strength. Scrambling is good but he's not Lamar or Fields for running around either. I'm not calling that bad. Just some physical traits he is good enough but not great. He does it more by processing. Which you can do it that way. It is one way and a different way. Like Steve Young says his processing is his elite trait. Which is great. Because a lot of guys are actually horrible at that.
lol when you dig your heels in it's hilarious. The fallacies in your argument have been pointed out:
And yes you did say Brock star was top 3. But looks like Darnold is now the apple of your eye and has surpassed Brock star
I didn't say he's top 3. But he's a good young QB. Albeit with a terrible coach and scheme.

Maybe there's a lesson in finding a bargain value in free agency while you groom a high talent rookie instead of paying top dollar for a non-elite player at the position.

Yeah that is a lesson in finding a bargain in free agency. That has talent. But just needs to be coached well. Like by O'Connell.

Guys, believe me, I am angry and not happy with Kyle this year.
I agree that he has a problem with his teams losing lots of games they should win. I agree he gets too conservative sometimes.
But.. I can't agree with the idea that we should fire him. YET.. Coaching definitely matters, but when you KNOW you have a quality coach, it ultimately comes down to the personnel mattering more over the long term. It's what many in here have argued about why Tomlin has kept his job. And I agree.
We are missing a starting S, LB, and DT. We are missing a starting WR with others being in and out of the lineup and Kittle hurt at TE. More on personnel in a minute..
Kyle is one of the biggest reasons we went from among the worst to among the best, and while yes he needs to evolve some now.. And hopefully is noticing that, but it's the personnel mistake that set us back the most -- the Lance trade sabotaging our ability to restock key positions that caught up to us. We couldn't afford to be less then near perfect on the drafts that followed and the fact is, that's a LOT to ask..
We made super poor choices to find guys of the future. Last year and it's showing up now. The entire 2023 draft class looks absolutely pathetic.
Brown is a backup on most other teams.
Moody was a need but not a greater need than an OL or pass rush.
Latu is garbage and couldn't even make the team
Bell, Luter, Winters, Graham, and Willis are all terrible and have contributed to losses one way or another individually when they've actually played.
Beal is bottom tier depth at best.
That 2023 draft looks like one of the worst we've ever had. And it's a big part of why we have zero depth and why we can't finish when we have opportunities.. We just aren't as good in terms of talent anymore, but it's also right when teams have adjusted to Kyle, combining the two is why we're average team.
We need to see if Kyle can change over the off-season.. And if we can upgrade. We need both to happen.

Yes you did
No he's not top 3. But he's a good young QB. Shany doesn't even want an elite talent at QB. He wants a young, submissive QB who will run his STUPID plays and do not question anything. Like no audibles at the line of scrimmage.

You could tell it wasn't real because the real Shanny says "auhmm" every sentence.
