I said realistic options. Spags isn't about to leave KC. He's had chances but prefers to be DC. Belichick was a terrible coach at Cleveland and after Brady left. He's 72. Not a good option. Is Ben Johnson really that good or is it because they have the best O line and best group of young offensive weapons in the league. Coordinators are a crapshoot. Throwing out names that have little or no chance of happening isn't realistic.

Kyle has 3 more years on his contract at about $10 million per year. Would they be willing to eat that much? I don't know. Another thing is what happens with Lynch? Would they fire him too since they kind of came as a package.

FWIW Belichick was really good in Cleveland.

One winning season out of 5. He won one playoff game. Would that be acceptable in SF?

It was a rebuild in Cleveland. He got them to 11-5 and a playoff win (Cleveland last till 2020). They were a favorite to get to the Superbowl the next year. Then Art Modell announced the move to Baltimore they lost 6 of 7 games and that was it. He had all the NE guys in Cleveland.

Bill Bilacheck HC/DC
Klay Kubiak OC

Bill Bilacheck HC/DC
Mike McCarthy OC

Mike Vrabel HC
Klay Kubiak OC
Robert Saleh DC

I'm not a fan of HC/OC combos. I think Ben Johnson would want that.

lists have been posted ad nauseum. you need to rephrase your post. You haven't seen any posts with a realistic suggestion that YOU APPROVE OF. Every Kyle Shanahan supporter has asked for a list hundreds of times in this thread. And multiple posters have given viable options, just to have the poster asking for the list attack the choices for bogus reasons (unproven, too old, failed in a previous lifetime, etc.)

Who's spags OC? Who's Bill's OC? They've shown they can't call a legit offense.

who's Ben Jonhson's DC? Lynch is gone if Kyle is gone. Who's the GM? Who's the QB? Johnson might not want Brock at $250M…if Kyle is gone Brock isn't a lock to be the guy.

there's absolutely nothing "bogus" about Bill being old as dirt, Johnson having zero experience as a HC or Spags being a successful HC. The fact that you try so hard to call those points "bogus" shows you want whatever isn't Kyle. Pot meet kettle.

what's funny is if any of these "replacements" aren't successful from day 1….we're talking winning a SB. You're gonna be right here whining about it.

Just have to deal with the stupidity. Shanny not going anywhere.

Those are some gross coordinator names.

folks gotta do better than that if we're cleaning house. Also you're gonna need a new GM and possibly a new QB.

I don't think people are factoring this in. It was Kyle Shanahan that brought in John Lynch, not Jed York. There were rumors floating around that Lynch was considering going back to TV when people believed that Adam Peters would get the 49ers' GM job. After Lynch signed his recent extension, he explicitly mentioned that he came back because he had a job to finish with Kyle Shanahan. The two are tied at the hip. If the 49ers fire Shanahan, they're by extension firing John Lynch and blowing up the entire operation. This literally means starting from scratch because almost all of the 49ers' core is an aging group. I don't think people are considering the total ramifications of firing Kyle Shanahan, and the effect it would have on the QB+roster, front office, etc.

Good luck with Jed f**king York leading that hypothetical process. I'd put big money on a bet that most of you will die out before you ever see a winning program in SF again.

It's dumb, but Kyle has gotta do something different as well.

the "avengers" aren't young anymore. Deebo is a shell of himself imo. People s**t on BA, but he was a massive part of the offense last yr. CMC isn't there yet and Trent is still good just not the best LT in football anymore. Fred has not played well this past month imo.

they had a damn good draft and need those guys to start doing more. Get the young RBs going. Get the ball to Ricky he can play. How about we toss Cowing out there to spread the field? Jennings is the only guy besides kittle doing anything.

while I like Brock and he's gonna be the guy as long as the HC/GM are here…he's gotta up his game. The margin of error last yr was much much great than it is right now. Missed reads, bad passes and TOs can't be thing.
This season isn't over, but it looks precarious at this stage. We've had other seasons where we have wobbled, but ended up pulling things around. Granted, this feels different. We'll see.

My main point is - if this season turns out to be a total dud, it will really be the first time that has happened under Shanahan.

2017 / 18 - He's building a team up from a 2-14 record.
2020 - Historic injuries, not just by franchise standards, but by NFL standards.
Every other season - Superbowl or NFCCG appearance.

That's a phenomenal record.

Of course you can throw in subjective / emotional / wishful stuff about whether we could have done even better during that time, but objectively - his performance has been outstanding.

In my reckoning, there is no chance he is going to be ousted after one poor showing. No chance.
To think this CLOWN can't be replaced is just laughable. I can find 100 NFL and College coaches and coordinators that can do just as good as this. We are 5 - 5, declining and headed for 5 - 7 soon. 8 years build and this is where we are. It's a declining and falling empire. They emperor has no clothes.

Hahaha FOR REAL!

No one is gonna want a "rebuild" and that's what that s**t would be….new everything and them wanting time and their players.

It's not a given that whomever they get will want Brock long-term.

Like you said people have wayyyyy too much faith in Jed finding the right everything. Gonna be the same people whining when they don't win a Super Bowl a yr from now.

It just shows how bad it is out there. McCarthy wtf are we doing?!

BB is gonna be 73 lol. He would be the oldest head coach in NFL history. That ship has sailed.

Ben Johnson is that shinny toy that everyone wants. The facts are there isn't a shred of evidence that he's actually a good head coach either. 3 yrs as an OC with two good years on a loaded roster. Could be Adam Gase 2.0 all the same….literally the hope is he's Kyle 2.0
