"Jumping up and down on the table" is quite the exaggeration. He was really intrigued by the guy and decided to take a chance. It didn't work out. Oh well. Happens everyday year for every team in every draft.

It's happened multiple times for Shanahan in every draft.

Nah. We can just go live our lives and forget about the NFL for a while.

I did the same after the 2019 Super Bowl and yet my memory hasn't faded.
HOW MANY TIMES WILL KYLE TRY TO PLAY WITH 12 MEN ON THE FIELD
BEFORE THE NFL BANS HIM?

No, he hasn't "jumped up and down on tables" for guys in every draft.

Has there been guys he's liked that they decided to draft? Yes. Is that true of every HC in the history of the NFL? Pretty much.

You guys don't give a damn when he drafts a guy he really likes and it works out (Kittle, Warner) because that doesn't fit your continually miserable narrative.

Even in the fabled 1986 draft there were missed picks (LB Pat Miller in round 5/#131. Joe Williams was round 4/#121 in 2017).

I'll attempt to be rational here.

I expect ST and DC gone. In fact most of the DC staff should be gone and let a new DC bring in his people? Dont demand a scheme, just find a good coach who will get the most out of our talent on defense. Something to that effect. I think the OL guy sucks. Hire new blood and ideas on the offense in a way that helps Kyle.

I keep coming back to this point week after week, we do not dominate the trenches at all anymore. It all starts from there, so they need to reinvest in the trenches as a priority. They have plenty of players to build around. While it's disheartening to see the drop off, they can turn it around, but it is asking for a lot of things to work out and fall into place rather quickly.

This is a rational post that makes a lot of sense.

They do need to get way better in the trenches on both sides of the ball. I'd argue that on offense, their OL has never dominated the trenches under Shanahan. I remember well the glory days when the Niners absolutely would dominate the trenches on both sides of the ball. Winning in the trenches is so important towards winning championships.

Hopefully, it will be figured out you can't just continue to roll out guys like Brendel & McKivitz and expect the offense to function consistently effective like this teams wants, especially against more talented teams/more talented D-linemen. And, you would think this team with a talented young QB like Purdy would absolutely make sure to find or acquire strong OL talent (especially in the middle - thankfully they found Puni) to protect him as a passer & help him be more effective overall with a better balanced attack with stronger run blocking.

Look how the Lions built up their OL in front of Goff…the Chiefs in front of Mahomes…the Packers in front of Love…the Eagles in front of Hurts, etc.

1000%

outside of our 49er injury problem that they have not addressed our poor line play is why were in this spot. when they stopped prioritizing our lines we stopped getting better. this teams strength has turned into our weakness. the lions are in the position they are in because their OL pushes the defense around however they want an dictates the game. we are now the opposite, our OL cant do s**t. our DL gets run all over all game. this team decided to load up on WRs who will never score points(ya looking at your foerester) because their QB will never even have a chance to get them the ball. I hope we don't sign Brock to a long term deal because wel be pissing all that money down the drain since its inevitable hel get knocked out for the season again after a DLmen runs over our trash OL. this team doesn't need weapons or DBs it needs linemen. there was quality DLmen to be had in trades this year an they didn't pick up s**t.

this is why if next year shanahan goes into the year with the same plan for personnel an the OL you may as well write the season off at the start. what's the definition of insanity? its not working, make changes.

OL has to be the #1 priority this offseason. DL/DB should be #2.

Even if they trade/lose a skill player or two on offense rebuilding the OL should open up a lot of opportunities for the guys that remain and any new guys coming in.

Agree 100%

Seek out some other hobbies.

Seriously, though, when I think about 2019 I think of the Panthers Game, or the Browns game, or the NFC Championship. The SB rarely comes to mind. Guess I just like to recall the good times.

When I think of 2011-2013 I think of the Saints playoff game first.

Yep you nailed it

Defensive line was how this team made the Super Bowl twice. Offensive line and Defensive line was the case in the Harbaugh era. We mostly neglect the Offensive line with Shany. Puni was a brilliant pick. But other than that they mostly neglect it and it shows. You have to build the lines if you want to win.

yep an what happend when we started ignoring our DL. this. our DL declining and us being at this point is no coincidence. we are porous on our lines. we need that impenetrable always getting pass rush push DL back. we need a big fat aubrayo Franklin plugging up the middle to help maliek Collins, bosa on one edge and dee Ford with different legs on the other side. we can only dream.

We literally lost Bucker and Armstead. Then they got arrogant and thought picks like Kinlaw (major bust) could replace it. Plus expensive, aging vets who don't fit this system (Hargrave). We have never been the same since we lost those two. Especially up the middle. They thought they could replace them in the draft and FA. Both have failed and we haven't been the same since. That's when we were dominant in the middle.
