I'm sure Kyle will do a lot of film analysis and soul searching after the season. We'll probably see some coaching changes and player changes. This team as it now is can't compete. Even if they get everyone back healthy next season they need to start shedding some older players and salary. Younger teams are now the power so it's up to the 49ers to adapt.

Kyle should try to come up with some new wrinkles for the offense since it's now common in the league and teams know how to defend it. He loves a strong running game but the O line isn't good enough to dominate the line of scrimmage. If Williams retires they're only going to get worse. The draft isn't expected to be a strong one so free agency may be a big factor. Lot's of work to do in the off season.

what did kyle do after the sb 58 loss?

hire sorenson, get staley in the bldg, do nothing on OL, do nothing on backup QB except for Dobbs who is so bad, he's QB3 and on it goes. major issue with CMC we do nothing to add a FA who can catch out of the backfield. so there was a lot of work to do last offseason and we didn't do it.
False

the whole thing was true, now we stack 2 offseasons of work cuz we didn't handle last offseason
False

so you like sorenson, you like staley, you like the OL, you like Dobbs/Allen, etc? you just gonna type false every time aren't you?
What's not to like, it's a wait and see but the reasoning was best at the time and still can be something in the future

OL, no one is playing great but they do give the QB time.. and our QBs haven't been executing. add in the drops, convenient penalties called when we do execute, injuries everywhere.. just snowballs. Even getting turnovers on defense needs a sacrificial chicken to wipe this madden curse off

Who would have we hired, Sorenson had the experience by being here. Saleh wasn't the way he was at first and Meco was also here since 2017. Who know what Sorenson can do later.

Cowing is coming off a concussion, maybe he was held back to limit further injury

We couldn't get an establish run game to work in Mason. No one is going to bench CMC

Dobbs isn't the guy you think he is

if Dobbs sucks, why did we hire him? he effectively was the Darnold replacement, only Darnold can play and Dobbs can't. then you have Sorenson, who is worse than Wilks. at least Wilks had a blitz scheme, that Shanny declined and told him to run our stuff. Sorenson is an intentionally weak hire, just to run our vanilla stuff. CMC should be every other drive in and out of the game. Mason needs a gameday role other than a very small number of carries later in contests. Cowing, why is Puka catching 10 balls a game week 1 of his rook season, and we can't get guys on the field after 10 weeks? i don't see a lot of young talent on this team, Shanny needs to have DC selection removed, and he needs personnel decisions removed to a real GM. he keeps stepping on rakes here. this is the dude who set fire to 3 ones to take Dallas now QB3 as savior.

Hire who?

Do you think Saleh is a realistic option? I mentioned earlier bringing in a new dc and let him fill out his staff.
Saleh would be here already instead of being with the packers

great DCs don't hit the market, unless they were a HC that got fired

True as far as the packers go, but they have a DC so I am thinking he may certainly entertain offers for a DC position.

Also very true about great DC's, but we need to try and find one. I am thinking how Kyle can get the best out of his talent on offense, I want a DC who isn't beholden to any one scheme, but instead can scheme the most out of who he has etc. I cannot see Sorensen being here next year.

Saleh wasn't great at first, shoot he was getting the heat like Sorenson is now.

That just shows that things just don't happen in an instant. If there is a next DC, the odds he can fix things in one off season is low

why move off wilks then. he was doing better than sorenson. had a great SB. why not empower him to run his stuff? by you own admission, if moving off premature is a fault, that's what we did already.

say jed makes the determination to move on. there is a lot of contract remaining and kyle can sign with dallas or some rival. so you would want to trade kyle if at all possible. i see other fan bases already licking their chops such as chicago

Jed would put us back where we were after Harbaugh if he did that.

Correct, everyone thought this of Wilks and wanted him gone. Everyone got their wish so everyone should be happy right?

This was Kyles first big move (DC), he had Saleh and Meco the entire time with him in house. Maybe that's why he went back to in house and let Sorenson get some time. Unless BB is walking in that door, i'm not sure who would be replacing Nick.

i'm fine with whatever happens. i like shanny but i can see if fresh eyes are needed on the situation also. we got rid of jim and after not too long pivoted to shanny.

i didn't want wilks gone i thought he was doing good tbh. now i didn't like how he was embarrassed with the booth nonsense, and told he needs to be rah rah, and can't run his own dang scheme. so i saw many red flags. what kind of dc would want to come here if you can't run your own scheme?

the players didnt buy into his whole thing. ill side with future HoF MLB Fred Warner's opinion over yours 143% of the time.

The guy didn't know when to call the right plays.. could he have gotten better. probably. but the damage was done internally (players) and externally (fans)
The team is just a complete mess.

* Complete rebuild of the offensive line. TW is getting older and not as good. Likely to lose Banks (I think we should keep him). It will get you Burford and you will be sorry. Puni is awesome. The only young stud we have. C and RT are sub par.

* Defensive line is a mess. Other than Bosa what do we have? Floyd had a good game but has been sub par for the year. We have never replaced Buckner and Armstead. That's when we were powerful up the middle. It's not an argument of whether they are older now or what they are doing now. We never replaced that style of player. We tried with Kinlaw (complete bust) and Hargrave (aging vet who doesn't fit our system). But it never worked out. Our defensive line is a mess up the middle.

* LB injuries. We can't cover well. We signed an older vet who is slow in coverage. Greenlaw is missed in tackling and especially coverage. But you have to understand he may never be the same. So be realistic. You can't even count on him. Other than Warner who is a stud we are in trouble there.

* Safety has some issues. Mustapha looks awesome. Brown is overly criticized IMO and has some ups and downs. But had bright moments in his career too. He's a little slow in coverage. That's the struggle. Hufanga was always slow in coverage and is coming back from terrible injuries. He was instinctive with catching tipped balls. Which is a great skill. But he would get beat deep on the backend too that people often didn't see. He would make the big splash play and you forget he got burned. You can't count on him with the injuries. So we got Mustapha.

* Special teams is a catastrophe. Punter and kicker both injured at various times. It seems like we never know who our punt and kick returners are. None of them are that great. Our kick and punt return coverage units are a catastrophe. It's a TD waiting to happen at any moment.

This is a complete rebuild. Multi years. It can't be fixed overnight. This is what happens when you over pay a lot of aging vets who are declining and miss so often in the draft. This team is declining. You can't re tool this. This is a rebuild.

like i said shanny keeps stepping on rakes. drafting lance was a major one. it looks increasingly like this core won't get a ring. probably will need some form of reboot.
We all want to believe the team has a chance to win every year and feel there is an abundance of talent but maybe it's time to admit that they just aren't good enough. Football players can age really quickly. The talent is there and suddenly it's gone. It's especialy true with the skill positions. The average career is less than 5 years so getting a 5 year run out of any team is about all you can expect without a lot of luck in the draft.

We aren't going to see what happened in NE very often. Maybe never again. A QB that plays forever and is married to a wealthy model so he can afford to take less pay. A weak division that's in constant turmoil. Coaching changes and QB changes with every team every year. It was the perfect storm.

Lance didn't affect our success. Rings are not easy to come by.. and the chances we had, had to be against the best QB.. I guess this is what felt like going up against Montana ?
