Hire who?

Do you think Saleh is a realistic option? I mentioned earlier bringing in a new dc and let him fill out his staff.
Saleh would be here already instead of being with the packers

great DCs don't hit the market, unless they were a HC that got fired

True as far as the packers go, but they have a DC so I am thinking he may certainly entertain offers for a DC position.

Also very true about great DC's, but we need to try and find one. I am thinking how Kyle can get the best out of his talent on offense, I want a DC who isn't beholden to any one scheme, but instead can scheme the most out of who he has etc. I cannot see Sorensen being here next year.
Saleh wasn't great at first, shoot he was getting the heat like Sorenson is now.

That just shows that things just don't happen in an instant. If there is a next DC, the odds he can fix things in one off season is low

I recall he was bad at first, but he caught on as the season went on and much better after. I don't get that vibe from Sorenson. I think we need to try someone new.
At first, took 2 full years and we drafted/signed heavily at Defense.

How long do we keep swapping coaches out, until we hit the lottery?

The team is just a complete mess.

* Complete rebuild of the offensive line. TW is getting older and not as good. Likely to lose Banks (I think we should keep him). It will get you Burford and you will be sorry. Puni is awesome. The only young stud we have. C and RT are sub par.

* Defensive line is a mess. Other than Bosa what do we have? Floyd had a good game but has been sub par for the year. We have never replaced Buckner and Armstead. That's when we were powerful up the middle. It's not an argument of whether they are older now or what they are doing now. We never replaced that style of player. We tried with Kinlaw (complete bust) and Hargrave (aging vet who doesn't fit our system). But it never worked out. Our defensive line is a mess up the middle.

* LB injuries. We can't cover well. We signed an older vet who is slow in coverage. Greenlaw is missed in tackling and especially coverage. But you have to understand he may never be the same. So be realistic. You can't even count on him. Other than Warner who is a stud we are in trouble there.

* Safety has some issues. Mustapha looks awesome. Brown is overly criticized IMO and has some ups and downs. But had bright moments in his career too. He's a little slow in coverage. That's the struggle. Hufanga was always slow in coverage and is coming back from terrible injuries. He was instinctive with catching tipped balls. Which is a great skill. But he would get beat deep on the backend too that people often didn't see. He would make the big splash play and you forget he got burned. You can't count on him with the injuries. So we got Mustapha.

* Special teams is a catastrophe. Punter and kicker both injured at various times. It seems like we never know who our punt and kick returners are. None of them are that great. Our kick and punt return coverage units are a catastrophe. It's a TD waiting to happen at any moment.

This is a complete rebuild. Multi years. It can't be fixed overnight. This is what happens when you over pay a lot of aging vets who are declining and miss so often in the draft. This team is declining. You can't re tool this. This is a rebuild.

I agree with everything you say here I just don't think the team needs to completely tear everything down. While Brock Purdy may not be an elite quarterback he is a very good one and that keeps the 9ers competitive. Bosa, Warner, Puni, Mustapha, Hufunga, Lenor, Mason, and Pearsall are all good young players. Even Rennardo Green has looked good this season despite his awful outing in GB. It's looking like the guys we knew from the Super Bowl window will have to start getting phased out but it's not all doom and gloom here. Is the team going to suffer if Deebo gets released? Based on my armchair QB view of things, the 49ers desperately need some help on the defensive line, pass rushers and run stuffers. They could also use some help on the offensive line as teams seem to be able to push them around.

How long do you keep Kyle? The entire extension Jed gave him?

probably another year or two to avoid paying for a coach that's not here. i would limit his duties. no more picking DCs or having roster control.

His choice for DC hasn't always been bad. He had a good one in Saleh and the Jets grabbed hm. Ryans was great and the Texans grabbed him. Wilks wasn't good and Sorenson hasn't worked out but to be fair he isn't working with a very good group. The D line is far weaker this seaon than in past years. They have one LB and he's getting worn down. The DBs have been pretty good but it's a young group and learning. My guess is we might see a change but only if there's a really good option.

that's true, but Reid really ran circles on him. cuz Reid went with a guy who cannot be poached. getting poached year over year is Nolan stuff. checkers vs chess here.

I dont blame Kyle for getting poached. It sucks, but he needs to find a good dc who will stay a while. He had a string of good assistants, but these current guys are not as good.

pretzel logic. brock was essentially undrafted. you can invest your ones better and brock is still there for us all the same. parsons was taken in our 2021 draft slot ok that's a ring right there. just put him on the 2021 squad and we are wrecking the league with parsons and bosa. we didn't do anything with brock anyway. the historic he costs nothing window is over with nothing to show for it, just a SB where our guys didn't know the rules.
there is no way you can prove everything stays the same. lol

If we had another year of jimmy, we most def take a QB higher than undrafted

i don't have to prove anything. it's reasonable that any investment of those ones, other than lance, gives more ROI. we just needed a lil ROI to get this over the line. they went with some nonsense this guy has never played, wasn't recruited, very young and inexperienced weak prospect. he was one of the worst draft picks of all time. very expensive on draft capital also. we didn't just shoot ourselves in the foot when we picked him, we stopped to reload and shoot ourselves in the foot some more.

I don't get how this is still being argued. It's beyond retarded at this point. It was a major f**k up that hurt the team both short term and long term. It is what it is. But to argue against it at this point is dumb.

go ahead Shanafans. Lay it on thick. Acho doesn't know football. He's a career backup guy. Why would you trust his opinion when yours is far superior.
I'm not in favor of firing Kyle. But he does need to start making changes. Show that hes not putting up with this s**t. He had no problem neutering wilks last year in front of the whole world. But this year he's letting all this s**t ride.

I simply blame the covid year / draft and chalk it up to bad timing. It's not even like it was just Lance - it was a bad QB draft full of busts. Bad timing to be the year they decided that Jimmy wasn't gonna last health wise. No matter who they drafted at #3 he would have been a QB we'd be moving on from already (or worse with Lawrence, paying him big bucks to be mediocre). Right inclination, terrible timing.

I don't care for Acho but Damnit He knocked it out the park on his assessment of Kyle. JED needs hold Kyle accountable for this train wreck of a season and the superbowl(s) collapses
