Something happening once isn't a pattern. It's just what happened.

I think it's far more likely to downgrade if Shanahan were to be fired, but this idea out there that the 49ers are doomed to not win a SB anytime in the next 100 years because they didn't win last year is getting a bit absurd. Things can get turned around quick. Just 12 years ago the Chiefs were in the toilet at 2-14 and had a player kill his girlfriend and then commit suicide at the team facility. They made the playoffs the next 10 of 11 years and the second half of that stretch has been their dynasty.

The Niners are a proud franchise.

Shanny is struggling right now. Most of the players are struggling right now. Coaches and players often do that from time to time. I wouldn't say they have no control over their staff and players, but it's not jelled this year for sure. When they have had the success - yes, getting to playoffs and Super Bowls even if you don't win the championship is a degree of success - it buys you a little time to right the ship.

If it's like this next season it'll be a different story.

Shanny and Lynch tried to ride this team out one more year to try to win another SB. They choose wrong. Team needed to retool and focus on getting back in 2 to 3 years. Now it will be another 2-3 years, maybe longer depending on how they manage players and the cap. There are A LOT of needs on both lines and that has to be addressed.

Pretty much. I can't really blame them for trying to run it back with the same core, and they'll have a couple of the same core players that went to both SBs for a few years still, from among Kittle/Warner/Bosa/Greenlaw/Juice, though how long for each of these guys is up in the air, with perhaps only Bosa and Warner likely being here still in, say, 2028. In any case, huge upcoming offseason for revamping the coaching staff and infusing the team with new talent, especially on the OL. Purdy + the 2024 draft seems to have given them a good head start at the player side of that at least.

Just my opinion but I think people are being a little tough on him. He does need to change things up and change out several coaches but there aren't coaches out there available who you know would be better. He needs help on his staff and he'll be fine.

Stop supporting mediocrity. Less support mean less revenue for the Yorks. Less revenue equates to forced changes.

You think the franchise's standard should actually* be Super Bowl or bust and you're calling someone else a homer, lol.

I simply think Shanahan is one of the best coaches in the NFL and is the primary reason we have been competing for the SB for years. I don't want to fire the guy because the team hasn't won the SB and because we are uncharacteristically struggling this year, including Kyle.
