I don't think Kyle should be fired, but I would have no problem with him getting a less-than-stellar annual review from John with an admonition to make some changes. In teaching, we call it monitoring and adjusting. You reflect on your teaching, assess what's working well and what isn't, then adjust your teaching strategies to effect change in the areas that aren't working. I'm not seeing Kyle monitor and adjust this year.
Kyle keeps doing the same thing over and over, thinking it will work because it worked before, and it feels as if the passion and enthusiasm have diminished following another SB loss. Other coaches have figured him out, so he needs to use that brilliant mind to develop new strategies.
Places to monitor (just to name a few; I'm sure you can think of more):
*Special teams coaching and player assignments in this area
*The effectiveness of the defensive coordinator
*The efficiency of the O-Line
*Whether or not each player is being used to their potential appropriately, or whether some are being held back to the detriment of the team
Distinguished and competitive people hate hearing they aren't working to their potential. It lights a fire under them to improve. John needs to light that fire under Kyle.
I wouldn't fire Shanahan either, but there's so many signs this is going downhill and he's been coaching like s**t this year.
- He's shown to have zero positive influence over the defense and special teams, cycling through coordinators is not coaching.
- Brock Purdy is going to get overpaid and that will hamper the offense
- Bobby Turner can't coach the RB's forever
- The guy knows how to blow a lead better than any coach in the league
- The fact the team falls apart with it's backup QB is a direct reflection of the coaching staff.
- Things don't tend to get better in the coach's 9th year with the team
If we were constant wild card exits, I think it's more reasonable to move on from Kyle. But every time we've made the playoffs going back to Harbaugh, it's been championship game or Superbowl.
Kyle has lost two as HC with us and one as OC in Atl. All three with substantial leads late in the game.
Obviously, making the Super Bowl is an accomplishment in and of itself, but at what point is it not enough? Kyle, you have to win one buddy!!!!!!
If we made it again next year and lost?
Kyle is not free from criticism. The Superbowl loss really affected his ability to put together a good coaching staff and have the team ready for the 2025 season.
Instil discipline, mental toughness and accountability.
Cut Brendel, McKivitz, and Bell.
Trade Deebo if he's going to sulk when called out and doesn't show up—two long returns nullified by penalties the past two weeks aside..
Fire the ST and DC.
Hire an OC to help you Kyle, you egomaniacal so and so.
Kyle deserves much of the blame for the current state of the 49ers...
