I don't want the same 5 or 6 Shanny's groupies answering this because I want people with a functional/not biased brain answering.

I think for this particular season, yes. There's no hope to make the playoffs so players know the season is over. Time to regroup and get ready for next year. That means KS needs to hire more help including possibly an OC so he can focus on his biggest issue: game management.
Some people are just meant to go through life as a good Offensive Coordinator and are NOT Head Coach material. At this point I'm not sure Kyle is EITHER! It seems the game has passed him up already.

Kyle needs someone on the team to fight against. As an OC he was always fighting the "man" to prove himself...as HC with no on to challenge him has led to him just going through the motions.

Technically he's one 2 NFCCG's but losing the rest is more a sign of poor coaching than just luck

As agitated as I get after heartbreaking losses.

The truth is that Kyle isn't the spouse you breakup with. He's the spouse you give time to figure out their s**t and give them pushback on their bull.

He may need to revoke some of his control on team building and play calling. We definitely need a new Special teams coach cause goddamnit.

I'll ask again.

How many times has Kyle Shanahan taken accountability and shown he can "figure out their sht".
What has he shown to indicate to you that he would relinquish control or not repeat the same mistakes ? Is it some esoteric, faith thing ?

The one time they went for a fourth down in this game they GOT IT. But Kyle will keep kicking FGs.

If you have to kick FGs, then you have to coach like Harbaugh. Extra conservative. You have to build a oline that can run block and a potent physical run game. And play good defense and have great special teams. And NO TURNOVERS. This offense generates a gazillion of turnovers. The ST cant kick or cover. The defense isnt good anymore and they cant make many 4-down stops to win games.

What has Kyle done to address that ? Ive seen coaches who knew they were outmatched play very conservative football and yet not turn the ball over, run the ball play the field position game, and the one time they could pounce on a mistake, they did. Thats good coaching.

What's the last time Kyle had a worse roster than another team and won and people were like oh wow they were overmatched and still came out on top ?

Im also tired of watching this team struggle in the same exact ways over and over. I'm not quitting or anything but its worrisome that Kyle doesnt make the right conclusions from his own mistakes.

Touche
Lots if arm chairing going on here. Understandable because of the disappointing season, but some of it is mired in projected speculation and pretty useless.

The truth is none of us know what it is Kyle needs or doesn't need to turn this around next year. When the season ends Kyle, Lynch and Jed will sit down and go over all of it. Maybe that'll mean Kyle decides to bring in someone to call plays, maybe it doesn't. Maybe that means they cut Purdy or they extend him (pointless to play him on a 4th year deal when that signals you don't trust him to be your guy). Maybe that means they move on from some vets and bite the bullet on their cap hit. Truth is we won't know if these decisions are the right ones until about a year from now either way.
