49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

Well when it comes to Ben Johnson, I don't feel Ben would need to be threatened by Jed York to keep Brock Purdy as the QB. I think Ben would LOVE to work with Brock. I don't know why Jonny wants to use that type of scare tactic.

And yes Ben Johnson looks good because he has playmakers on his offense, but Kyle has WAY better playmakers and has had them for a while now. I just like how the Lions offense attacks attacks and attacks the offense. Same with the Packers offense right now. Trying to put teams away.

In the past I've mentioned that I wouldn't call to move on from Kyle unless I felt we could replace him. First I feel he is not as good as a "head coach" as he is a play designer, as far as preparation...attention to detail...the little things. I feel he just expects his players to know things. (Super Bowl blunder as an example, in comparison to Andy Reid).

I just feel we have to jump on Ben Johnson being available, even if it means we have to move on from a Head Coach who has two Super Bowl appearances. If we miss out on him, then we'll be force to stick with Kyle and his stubborn ways (which I know some desperately want us to do until the end of time). Wasting another few years.

As far as players... I think Mooney Ward has done great for us in his 9er tenure. Jonny seems to want to rewrite history all the sudden, just to deflect. To be unnecessarily defensive of Brock's play imo. I think most 9er fans like Brock.

I don't think Ben would be any better than Kyle, In fact he would be worse, especially at first.

I think Ben has two things in his favor, his offense is good for sure, but not as popular as Kyles so defenses aren't as trained against it. He has a fantastic offensive line.

He isn't taking that line with him so good luck.... I think if Kyle actually invested in the o line we wouldn't even be having this conversation. So yes I want to see Kyle adapt and improve, but I just don't see him getting fired anytime soon, its kinda crazy talk imo.

there's no fear just facts, over a hundred years of them lol

Like this fact?

Besides Don Shula, not a single coach in nfl history has ever won a Super Bowl after dropping their first 2.

Some fans are under the delusion that Kyle has complete and total control of everything, including John Lynch. Lynch would not be here if he had no power. He's not just some talking head or puppet of Kyle.

In fact.. While we know Kyle and John are friends, I'm honestly starting to wonder if there's some friction there.

John called out the discipline of the team. Is he taking shots at the players or at Kyle?

Kyle said "we're not as good of a team, we're not the same team at all." is HE taking a shot at the players or at Lynch?

Shoot.. I may have just given Grant his next article..

Without being a sensationalist, you make sense.

Considering he responded just a few posts down, I'm sure he's aware that I wasn't attempting to restrict his first amendment rights 🤣🤣.

its a good reminder to us all though, this is indeed a public forum. Someone needed to hear that, and you provided it. Thank you!

Old, injured team with no new talent to replace them. You look across the entire league at the successful teams and see how they constantly replenish old talent with new…. And then you have the Niners who constantly invest in old decrepit players because "you know what you're getting" with them. I'm sick of it dude, same s**t over and over just praying that Kyle Shanahan hits on some gem in the 5th round.

CMC has PCL. Mason now injured with high ankle sprain. Lol. RB by committee. Now there is no Committee.
can't take you serious.. it's like you have no knowledge of last year(s)

you want to look at this years successful teams and yet the 49ers were the one's representing the NFC or the ones batting for it. We're injured.. lets start with were too old when we can't win with healthy players

Last year we got lucky and we didn't get injured.

This year we have a slew of injuries and our lack of depth is exposed.

Why is it exposed 49erAllthetime?

Lmao - "way better".

Everybody loves the new flavor of the month. Ben Johnson hasn't been a HC for a single game yet so he's the Choose Your Own Adventure candidate. A cross between Bill Walsh, Bill Belichick and Jesus.

And if he flops, which most new HCs do, the same people talking him up will pull the "well I don't get paid to know this stuff" card.

Im referring to the Lions playmakers vs the 49ers. Amon-ra, Gibbs, Montgomery, Jameson, and LaPorta. "better or not" can make for a lively discussion but "way better"? Lol.

You notice how all the names that are hurt this year are the guys who were demanding a s**t ton of money in the off-season? They need to just mail the rest of this season in and get a high draft pick.

It is totally relevant and true. CMC, Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Williams. There is upwards of $60 million salary cap.

What about Brock, Kittle, Jennings, Mason, Bosa, Hargrave, Greenlaw, Lenoir, Huf, Wish etc...

All guys who have been banged up and missed time...

Bosa got his money, Hargrave got his money...even Kittle got his money so yes, they are the money men.

Of course everyone plays with injuries throughout the season. Kansas City are beat up. Detroit are beat up and they are still winning.
Detroit and KC beat up, like who?

Detroit and Kansas City have their injuries and are still winning.

Shanahan looks like a coach without answers and the team looks like they've given up on him. I've seen plenty of good and bad teams over the years. I don't want Shanahan gone, but it seems inevitable. If not this season, then next. Once a team has quit, as we seem to have, it's really hard for any coach to pull them back.

I don't know if it's the lost SBs, questionable decisions, or something else. All I know is I've seen plenty of teams where the coach is no longer resonating with the team, and this really looks like one right now. Hopefully Shanny can put Humpty Dumpty back together again, but I'd be surprised.

I don't really know of any key injuries to Kansas City, but Detroit missing their #1 edge rusher and still winning is pretty crazy. Meanwhile we lose ours and our entire defense magically falls apart

KC had their no 1 running back out. Isiah Pacheco. The Chiefs had a ton of injured players last year and won the Super Bowl. Actually the Chiefs always have a ton of injured players and always go to the playoffs at least.

Detroit and Kansas City have kept fighting through their injuries and San Fransisco has given up. This team seems to be consistently injured more than any other team in the league. I wonder if they should examine their conditioning and training given ex players have noted they practice way harder than other teams.

I've been saying this for years.

The guy at the top of our org chart for Strength and Conditioning is Matt LaFleur's wife's first-cousin. I'm not kidding. And our current guy was only elevated because the last S&C coach was bounced because SF was injured too often. Also, that second-to-last guy was brought on because Shanny knew him from his Washington days.

Maybe, just MAYBE it's time to bring in some new blood, and not just keep going with a guy who was hired because he's related to your friend's wife, or that he used to be employed at your old job.

Where did Hope get Marv Levy and the Buffalo Bills in the early 90's?

It got him to four Super Bowl appearances, what else was Levy suppose to do, just give up after two like you want to do with Shanahan? Ungrateful fans like you should be rooting for the Raiders or Cards where you can live a happy-miserable life with those teams.

Gewtting to 4 straight SBs is unprecedented. It just so happened that during that era the NFC was the stronger conference much lik the AFC is stronger now. It runs in cycles and who youface in the SB has alotto do with the outcome. During that era the NFC wasn't jist winning. Many of the games were really lopsided blowouts. The Niners have been unable to beat the Chiefs who have been the best team in the NFL. It's just the luck of the draw.

Marv Levy is remembered as a loser. If Shanny doesn't get over the hump that's how he'll be remembered too. It's doesn't matter if you took them to overtime. It doesn't matter if you were only one play away. You either get a ring or you don't. It might not be fair but that's how it is.

Exactly 👍

Marv Levy is a loser.

Cold hard facts.

He needs to give up being both. Pick one or the other.

That is why I said earlier I don't care what he says, I care what he does. He is not the type to blow up any of his people to the media, which I agree with. What he says behind closed doors who knows and I would like him to hire a new DC in the offseason for sure lol
