No player worth his paycheck, even if it is just the vet minimum, will sit still for intentional tanking.
Every player on the roster knows that his future earning power is directly tied to what he puts on film from one year to the next. As long as they are capable of playing, they will strive to secure their next contract. Consequently, if there is even a hint of the HC tanking for a better draft pick, who would replace one of the current players on the team, the HC will lose the team in one short week. Such an action is a franchise-destroyer.
