How I picture 49ers fans when they try to justify not winning a Super Bowl with Harbaugh and Shanahan by saying "look how many playoffs wins they've had in that span"

If winning the SB is all that counts then 31 teams are disappointed every year. You have to get in the playoffs to even have a shot. Then you have to win a couple games to get into the SB. It's not like they got blown out in thise games. They were close. All 3 of the Niners losses were close and came down to a couple game changers. Last year it was the muffed punt that turned the game around when the 49ers were in command.

It's one thing to be a bad/mediocre team that can't ever seem to find any success, but there's something equally bad as being a good team with elite talent for multiple years that can't ever finish. Especially when you go on to see teams you're better than if not just as good manage to hoist a trophy at the end of their seasons.

No there isn't lol. Being one of the best football teams for multiple years is much better than being a s**t that has zero hope of winning anything yr after yr.

fans that cry about Kyle lack perspective of how the rest of the league is. They clearly don't talk to other fan bases.

The goal is to win a SB every yr, for about 70% of fan bases that's not even close to a reality yr after yr.

No there isn't lol. Being one of the best football teams for multiple years is much better than being a s**t ton that has zero hope of winning anything yr after yr.

There ABSOLUTELY is and it doesn't make sense how some can't see it. Even when we were awful with Erickson and Nolan, I remember thinking to myself "at least SF is undefeated in 5 super bowls , I'd rather be bad and not make the playoffs than go to the sb and lose" If the Lions win the Super Bowl this year, it will feel like the biggest slap in the face to all 49ers fans.

werent you one of the fans who wanted Jimmy G gone because you thought he wasn't good enough to win a Super Bowl. Funny how some fans contradict themselves

This is gonna be an ongoing argument forever.
You are part of a group that's perfectly fine being competitive, even if they never win a Super Bowl. Good on you bro.👍🏼
Then there's a group that's not ok with constantly coming in second. I'm in Jerry rices and Ronnie Lotts. camp. They were pissed when the 9ers lost their 1st Super Bowl. That you want to lump the 49ers in with the rest of the league kind of sums up who most of our fanbase has become. The 49ers are one of the Legacy teams along with Dallas, packers, Steelers, bears and so on. We are suppose to have higher standards and so many fans want to lower those standards. Screw that. This team is suppose to win super bowls when we have the best talent in the league.

Sounds like you are perfectly fine lowering ourselves to the rest of the leagues level.

kinda same as harbaugh. lot of great players and a very real shot but no ring

Both had administrations had one thing in common, they refused to run the ball in the end. Frank Gore got us to the 5 yard line on his own, and what did they do at the end? Passed the ball over and over and over while have plenty of time and timeouts to work with. 49ers would have 8 Super Bowls right now and be the undisputed franchise in the league and the only one to be undefeated if they just ran the damn ball!

Yea I can't imagine any fan growing up in the 80s / 90s that is happy with Super Bowls losses. I don't recall any fans losing to Dallas in the NFCC games in the 90s and smiling just thinking about the "journey". If anything folks were asking for heads every time we'd lose to Dallas or Green Bay.

It's these young millennials man. They just get all warm and fuzzy when they think playoffs. Anything beyond that is just a bonus and not necessary to define success…

our undefeated SB record was tarnished by Harbaugh.. who gives a fk about that record now

Lets keep clawing at that SB until we can grab it.. fk the mentality of not trying because some fans are scared lol

TBPH it's a better take than "I'd rather lose the Super Bowl every year because at least I made it"….

not all situations are alike

Harb had 4 downs at the 5
Kyle ran and was stuffed the first two downs and had wide open guys on those 3rd downs but couldn't get the ball to those guys.
