Oh just wait he's gonna run it back with this team. He can't afford to offload his friends like Deebo and Juscyk
I think he's more willing to move on from guys than you believe. They cut Bowman. They traded Buckner. They cut Armstead. They drafted Lance to replace Jimmy. They've made their share of ruthless business decisions.
They usually wait until the offseason to make these moves. Typically in season you live or die with the team and preparation you worked with in the summer. 2021 (Deebo wideback) and 2022 (CMC trade) are exceptions rather than the norm. I suspect he knew that if Deebo couldn't be better they weren't winning in the playoffs anyway. I don't like that he put it to an ultimatum tonight, but I think he knows what he must do this offseason. I'll be disappointed in him and Lynch if they don't bite the bullet. In the end it's a business.
There's a fine line between loyalty to the guys who came through for you in the past and not moving on from them for the health of the overall team. They've reached that point with a few guys, Deebo in particular. We'll see what happens, but I'm expecting them to be mostly ruthless again because of how ineffective things got this season. I hope that includes Shanahan's approach to his offense, too, because it's time to adjust again to the league's adjustment to him.
