i guess he went out and drafted montana and that's a big reason why he is a legend. took him how long to get montana, a couple months?

Yup finding a franchise changing QB is easy barely and inconvenience

Good point. Shanahan has had 8 years to find his QB and he's whiffed badly a couple times. We had the #2 pick in a draft that had Mahomes. We had the #9 pick in a draft that included Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Tom Brady expressed interest in playing here the last couple years of his career. These things absolutely need to be included when evaluating the job he's done since he's been here. I like Purdy and hope he continues to improve, but if we regress over the next couple of years, I don't see many arguments for keeping Shanahan here.
You all can dig up whatever you want to make yourselves feel better. Still doesn't change the fact that Kyle Shannahan, offensive guru, self appointed QB whisperer, smartest coach in the nfl, will own the record for all time losing-est coach in 49er franchise history.

it's mostly a function of his long tenure. he may be winningest as well, patient as jed is.

All lies. Shanahan picked the best quarterbacks, their receivers / injuries / referees / weather let them down.
Were any of the Shanahan haters all over this thread even fans in 2015?

They're just fans from other teams who finally can talk crap

Kyle is just like Brock. He's a game manager and wins with elite talent around him. But they both are not game changers - true winners.

Probably not

just an odd convo when you start with the labels. you can say barry sanders wasn't a 'true winner'. meanwhile, kadarius toney is. kind of a nonsense conversation like they have on ESPN 'football' segments.

Actually the opposite. Were any of the Shanahan lovers fans in 2015 ? It seems like 2 SB losses and 2 NFCC losses is more than enough for some of you. The Kyle fans rejoice in our failures. 2nd place is still something to celebrate….apparently.

Young Bill got plenty of players wrong, too. His first draft pick ever was RB James Owens, Rd2 #29 overall. James Owens played in 30 games for SF. He had 7 rushing attempts for 33 yards and 0 TDs, 19 receptions for 254 yards and 0 TDs. In those 26 times handling the ball he had 7 fumbles.

Key is to hit on a majority of your acquisitions. Nobody hits on all of them.
