The rest of the talent on the team did their best to overcome that garbage, untill they couldn't hold on much longer in the NFC Title game.

Yall really love being blind for losers? Like are really ok with it. The s**t I had to deal with in those Jimmy G years... just wow. And some still believe in the steroid cheat.

That was one of the worst things about the Lance pick. Drafting someone so raw that he couldn't be played over an injured mediocre starter… on a SB ready roster. He played two games at that point and our offense was nearly completely dysfunctional. 1.5 decent quarters against one of the worst teams in the league. Zero chance a serious argument could be made that he should have started the next four have-to-have-them wins… three of which we got with gimpy Jimmy and his set of issues.

This is making a controversy where there isn't one. I clearly remember thinking I want Trey to take over for how bad Jimmy was playing also but in hindsight all the rumors about how bad and not ready he was turned out to be true.

He played and help us stay in the playoff hunt with his second win/game.

And in his first game as starter (without Kittle, then I believe we lost Trent during the game... eitherway we were missing players against the Cards) his first start ever.. and he helped us move pass the 50 yard line like 8 out of 9 drives. BUT STUPID ASS STUBBORN KYLE didn't want to trust the replacement kicker when we were in FG range..and kept going for it on 4th downs. Like if we kicked FGs each time we had opportunities to in that game, we would have won the game. Trey did fine in his first start ever, being so young and not playing in a serious game in 2 years was it?

Damn yall are so hard on a young rookie QB.. but SO f**kING LENIENT on Vets who like to turn the ball over. s**t is weird as hell.

No doubt.

There is doubt. He threw for 5TDs and 2ints that season in the few games he played. In a pressure must win game, he threw 2TDs and 1int... and overcame that early int in the first half.

In Jimmy G's last 6 games going into the playoffs he had 7INts (and some dropped ones) and 3 fumbles.

f**kING SEVEN INTS!

And threw 3INTs in the playoffs.

Kyle wishes he had these balls. Yall remember in 2021 when double agent Jimmy causing ridiculous turnovers in each game late in the season.. and having ridiculous turnovers at the worse times in the first two playoff games... before not being able to get a first down against the Rams (when we had a 10pt lead) to finish them off?

Imagine still thinking we should have played Lance.

Ya that's pretty dumb. I was no Jimmy fan, but Lance was obviously not ready.

It's unfortunate for him that he got Injured when he did, because once Brock showed us what he could do, the Lance experiment was pretty much done with.

The thing is Brock didn't take his spot on the roster. Darnold/Allen did. This happening really douses the idea that Lance was just a victim of injury/timing and Brock's emergence. There's zero reason we couldn't hold him especially with Brock recovering from a serious injury and a questionable future.

I know people like to pretend that he asked for a trade and we accepted, but it's nonsensical to think we traded a cheap QB we believe had a future to a conference playoff rival for a 4th round pick.

The whole thing was a disaster. Just glad we got out of it before we wasted anymore time.
Cue the Cousins to 49ers from 5 years ago again LOL

Yeah man, 2 nfc championships and Super Bowl appearance in a 5 year span is rough, I wouldn't wish that on any fan.

lol ok?. I used the word "appearance" not implying that they won, and I'm pretty sure every fan on this forum knows the outcome of those games. The original poster is acting like he had to watch 2008 JTO during that time, but I guess there's no point trying to speak logic with a Trey Lance Stan in 2024

btw why are we talking about Jimmy G again?

If Shanahan brings in Kirk "8-8 or 8-9" Cousins, he will have written his epitaph and end his reign as 49ers head coach. I have no doubt in my mind he will because of his life long boner for him.

Folks have been running with a lot of shortsighted ideas and narratives, so why not that one, too.

i have no doubt we could ride kirko and deebo to the top pick in the draft if we built around those guys
