lol exactly. These Shanahan fans are something else. They consider this 2 SB / 2 NFCC loss era as some sort of glorified time period that will be remembered fondly by fans. lol wut ?!

Sadly, they use baseless anecdotes to defend their claims. I LIVE in NY, and interact with Bills Jets and Giants fans daily. But hey some of these guys that live nowhere near NY have a "friend" that tells them Marv Levy was the greatest coach ever and those 90s Bills were an all-time team. Therefore, if those "friends" can think like that, then all Bills fans think like that, therefore all us Niner fans should consider the Shanahan era as this very successful period that will go down in history and we will never forget how great he was

it's getting comical with these guys…

Every single day. Even on a weekend, doesn't even sleep in. Wakes up early just to cry about KS lmao. I'm glad the mods didn't keep you on TO too long, I bet you were going insane not able to make 6 AM posts about Kyle.

Yup these guys are getting comical…..

Oh wait one of them said they were way past comical, nevermind.

I don't want to run the front office. I just want Lynch to talk to Jed, tell him he's already publically called this team's performance unacceptable, the HC is leaving too many functions on the table, we're going to be out early, we could talk to people early, there's a lot of talent out there, he knows it would be a sure thing to pump some new ideas and new enthusiasm into this team, he thinks we're an attractive destination, and what would his thought be towards giving him a chance to talk to and interview some people.

I really, really don't understand how this fanbase even functions in day-to-day life.

When you barely lose the Super Bowl, the solution isn't to just rip it all down and start from scratch again. Is a solution needed? Absolutely. But when there's a scratch in the wall or a broken fence, you don't just burn your house down and then start saving up for a new place. You address it the right way: directly and head-on.

I really, really thought this fanbase would learn from firing Harbaugh and replacing him with Tomsula of all people. Guess not. Fortunately it looks like Jed has.

Yeah, Jed won't be hiring any more coaches. And if he shares a gene pool with Eddie DeBartolo, he's going to be getting awfully impatient right now. Oh, and that guy's first two head coach hires were Ken Meyer and Pete McCulley.

2 SB losses = a scratch in the wall.

I believe the Super Bowl hangover is real. It is hard to keep the guys as hungry and fired up all long season long after a long hard run to get there, only to lose it. I also believe that Kyle has lost a lot of trust in the players' confidence in winning it even if they do get back there. A big part of that is Kyle's total bonehead mismanagement of giving Mahomes the first opportunity to win it. I believe it was disgraceful and a bad character look for him not to own it by saying his "analytics department" told him to do that. Nobody told him to do that with two gray cells between their ears to rub together. I don't know if it was just a brain f@rt, or he didn't know the playoff OT rules, but either way, he wasn't prepared. Kinda what all coaches preach to the players.

I know Kyle's record, but so many of the things that got him there will not be replicated in the future. There is something to the idea that defenses have now had years to make their adjustments to his offense, and it sure looks to me that he is not being flexible to make them pay for those adjustments.

He shows No ability to run a defense or ST, so he needs great coordinators in those positions. He totally failed in hiring those positions this year. Too bummed out to put out the effort?

Is he a motivator? Yes, hangover, but gee wizz, where's the effort to overcome that. Where's the results. This team looks flat.

Coaching? These guys are running into each other. These guys are dropping way too many balls. Yeah, I know, injuries. But imo, these guys aren't bearing down mentally. And nobody's calling them out and making them. Maybe that can't win enough games, but they can sure look better.

Many players have suggested that Kyle has favorites. He does. It causes him to hang on to these guys Way beyond when he should be working younger players onto the field. This also causes him to retain these players on the roster too long, and paying them too much to do so, and now we're on the verge of cap hell.

Kyle's record has been aided by what many have thought to be the best roster in the league. I credit that to the guy that has that job. It's just my opinion, but to the extent Kyle does influence player acquisitions, I think he leans towards traits, whereas Lynch leans towards football players. Kyle leans for keeping those favorites instead of turning them into draft picks, which heads you into a wall. Player evaluation is a talent that many coaches do not do well in, but Lynch has always said he won't deny what Kyle needs for his offense. It was reported that John did ask Kyle if he was sure he wanted to pass on Mahomes, and Kyle said that he did.

I've posed this question many times, and I've yet to see an answer. Aside from play design, what head coach functions is Kyle above average at? Imo, it's not motivation, it's not managing a defense, it's not managing special teams, it's not making in game adjustments on offense when the defense is out in front of you, it's not in bringing young players along and getting them reps, it's not putting pressure on players and holding them accountable to not make mistakes, it's not on taking responsibility for failures as opposed to blaming players. You know what? It's not even coaching up players. As an offensive guy, what quarterback has he ever made better under his leadership from when they first walked onto his field?

I've been a Niner fan for a long time. I know. He hit the ground running with a thoughtful offense and young players and had significant succerss. But the offense is stale, and the players are old and lacking that youthful exuberance, and his reluctance to move on from his favorites has driven us into cap restraints. I think we're done, until we get some new blood in the Head Coaching office.

Just My Opinion.

Great post.

now get ready for the backlash….

Oh, and has there Ever been a coach with a worse record protecting or overcoming a lead.
lol.. There's thousands of pages worth of posts that answers all of your questions.. you just ignore them.

I know. I keep looking, but I just can't find it. Could you help me out, please? What head coach functions is Kyle Shanahan good at besides play design? Somebody, please. I need a direct answer. Trying to find it buried in 5,000 pages just isn't easy. If you know, please share.

Let me respond for him.

"If we fire Kyle Shanahan, we might end up with Jim Tomsula. I have nothing more to add to this conversation". The end.

Glad to to see that you being clueless about football isn't just exclusive to the 49ers.

I don't see that I am here to do your research for you. Here is one statistic though. The team were in a terrible state when he took them over. That roster was appalling. Anyone who doesn't accept that wasn't watching football then. Since then the team under Shanahan has gone 70 - 59 - 0. Starting with a rebuild and including several desperate injury-racked seasons, this puts the stats into perspective.
WOW HE PUNTS INSTEAD OF CHALLENGING MORE MILQUETOAST BEHAVIOR.

I agree. He started off with a horrible roster, took his necessary lumps, and built more than a winning record out of that. I also think he got more out of Garoppolo than it was reasonable to expect while having to protect him from himself.

I know it's not universally accepted here, but IIRC, the team Did announce that John Lynch has the final say on all player acquisitions. Kyle has the final say on the cutdowns. They work together, but I'm going to give most of the credit for the often best roster in the league to the guy that works that job, and that's Lynch.

IMO, Kyle was at the top of his game. I agree with him that he can cut Brock loose now instead of trying to cover for and protect his other quarterbacks. What he's weakened at has developed over time. The league didn't start off with answers to his very thoughtful offense. They seem to now, and I don't see Kyle making them pay for the adjustments they are making. Having to clean house doesn't start you off with aging, injured, favorites, and expensive players that perhaps don't have the same natural youthful exuberance, and I don't see him picking this team up in the SB hangover year. We have been limited by injuries that probably does lower our ceiling in expected wins, but boy, this team looks sloppy. Lynch publically calls it unacceptable, for a reason. He did start off with very talented coordinators, and he doesn't seem to be attracting that caliber of assistants anymore, and I just don't see where he takes adequate responsibility over those teams when he really must.

I've always been a Kyle Shanahan fan. I just don't see these problems changing, and while I still see us winning a good percentage of games, I just don't see us going all the way anymore. And I want to.
Week after week he proves why he should not be our hc. This team is as pathetic as him.

The team can say anything they want. Actions are louder than words. Richard Nixon once said he's not a crook. Well if he said so this must be true, right ?!

If people who follow this team sincerely, genuinely believe John Lynch is the one who makes personnel decisions in terms of draft and FA, I'm not sure theres anything to talk about.

If you believe John Lynch is the one who chooses guys like Lance and Pearsall, god bless ya heart

I'm telling you what the Team said, not Lynch. You are making $hit up out of thin air, just because Kyle is the public face of the team. You have absolutely no evidence. Lance was a stupid desperation move, and since that was on offense, I'm certain that was agreed to, and nobody bats 1000, and they were properly motivated by not wanting to get into the playoffs again with Garoppolo. I'm still giving Pearsall the benefit of the doubt, regardless of your snap judgement, which is that since he missed all of the off season, training camp, and the first half of the season, and already looks like he has good speed and hands. And no sir, there isn't anything to talk to you about.

And Nixon? This sounds like my Mother, who railed against Nixon until the day she died. Just Stupid.

I have evidence. Actions speak louder than words.

John Lynch is on record saying Joe Williams was not on the draft board and yet Kyle took him on an impulse decision that was Kyle's only. Do you remember a single instance of John Lynch wanting someone whom Kyle didnt want and he got him ? Which one ?

John Lynch had zero GM experience and got hired only because Kyle wanted him. This is a fact. We have seen a lot of instances where Kyle was the one running everything, literally eavesdropping every conversation in the building with any coach/player interactions.

Your "evidence", on other hand, is that the team PR said something. Great evidence. Not out of thin air or anything.

I don't believe what team says publicly. Im not some dog who has blind loyalty and complete trust in what their owners do.

Team has said Ambry Thomas was healthy. Was that true too ? Santa Clause aint real either, news at 5 !

But you can keep believing that the Trey Lance pick or Pearsall pick were all Lynch and Kyle had no input there. Just don't insult intelligence of others.

nasty

Yes, Lynch had Williams off his board, because he wants football players. Kyle wanted him, because he seeks "traits". Lynch said from the beginning that he would never keep Kyle from getting what he needed for his offense. Lynch surely gave Kyle his head on Lance.

Next time, when Kyle is gone, and Jed knows who built the best roster in the league, Lynch will make no such promises in the future.

And I don't understand your problem on Pearsall at all. He looks on schedule to me, but you are welcome to make your snap judgement.

Yes, Kyle recommended Lynch. He did not hire him. Just like players are not what they were drafted at after 8 years on the job, Lynch is not subservient to Kyle after 8 years on the job. Can you spell I R R E l E V A N T. Our QB better not be above 4th string.
