Was at the game and it was real obvious coaching wasn't great. No excuse why we can't dink and dunk down the field like dolphins did. Every play seemed difficult. Int was mind boggling why purdy threw that with all the time left

The decline of deebo, Trent, and CMC has hurt badly. Brendel has been worse this year also. You have no ayuk, Mason also hurt.
The offense is in shambles but you can blame all of that basically on coaching decisions to do nothing outside puni for personnel decisions.
You can actually see they somewhat had a game plan with the draft getting puni to help shore up the offensive line, drafting pearsall and cowing for deebos possible decline and to give purdy his Edelman.
You also had Mason behind CMC and gurrendo drafted for his decline.
There was a plan there for sure pre season however it's not what we have seen personnel wise on the field. Inexplicably cowing and pearsall aren't being fed, CMC was being run into the ground again.
Feliciano never playing again and the decline of Trent the gameplan should have changed to play action, read option, two back sets but that never happened.
Thus you just see a complete floundering on offense trying to force all these untalent d or declining players to fit the system...

Team can't function without throwing everything onto CMC.
Even prior to the CMC trade the offense looked pathetic.
We could still probably have gone 10-11 wins this year if shanahan could make adjustments.
Since it's the same exact offense as years past with no talent yes it looks pathetic...
I don't really see it getting better though next year... CMC will be worse... No idea on gurrendo and Mason.
Maybe Ayuik comes back and gets 1000 yards again. I wouldn't say he's a top 10 receiver though. Purdy made him better because hes the best option outside of kittle.
Jennings is a good wr3. Too slow to really be a threat unless his position was changed to hybrid te sets. Again this would require coaches to be smart.
Trent will decline more or be gone. Pearsall looks pretty bad, cowing we have no idea on because he can't get on the field.
I'm not seeing many bright spots outside of Lenoir.... Players who might be better next year...

and what adjustments are these you speak of, we still have open guys down field. Open holes to run through.
the only difference is we are down the depth chart so much that we have to play mistake free football and that is not happening with what we are forced to play with.
Not sure if you were here a few years ago but a lot of pessimism was said back then also.
but guess what we didn't just bounce back once, we did it twice and going to do it thrice.

It's pretty simple.
First you write deebo out of the gameplan after like game 2. This saves you 39 carries so far where hes averaging 3 yards per carry.
Second you run the offense through kittle. Because he's your best mismatch weapon. You can then sprinkle in Jennings.
I get cowing and pearsall to run their best plays and get them both 2-5 touches a game.
You split carries with CMC when he's back the first game. Since he sucks now after giving him one game of split carries he's relegated to third down back where you give most of them to Mason and spell him with gurrendo on downs 1 and 2. CMC is now either blocking 3rd down or getting carries outside or checkdowns.
Next you put Brock into the read option on some sets because blocking sucks and give brendel help up the middle. Purdy reads the end.
Run more screens. Practice more screens since half the time we even run them there a penalty.
Cut moody. Write juice out of the gameplan. For obvious reasons.
Make purdy scramble more. Dink and dunk to pearsall and cowing and see if they can take a short pass to the house. Run cowing over the top as a deep threat on occasion...
Give Brock more help with kittle by chipping a guy as he goes out for a pass. This literally never happens on our team but other teams do it all the time.
All of the above is obvious but the coaching staff doesn't do it ...

He wont let purdy run the option or give plays to cowing or pearsall because they do not know the full playbook.
Shanahan will never limit his playbook....
There's obvious veteran bias also which means if your liked you never come out even if you suck...
Having purdy scramble more on designed runs also won't happen. Outside scrambles and read option type plays aren't in the playbook. We saw with Jimmy and Lance all the designed QB runs are up the middle.
Fullback is a waste of money and juice really isn't doing anything. We run plays where the design is run the fullback on a deep route... You can guess how well those work.
All of the above could have been done this season even with the injuries...

Why? As Kyle has said..
"It's a pretty normal play. It's part of football, and it's unfortunately he hurt his ankle on it. But it's a very normal play. You guys should watch some other teams."

Why is our offense so penalized, especially in the most crucial times of the game? Because arrogant Kyle is forcing players that don't have the talent to run his offense the way he calls it. Then they overreach trying to accomplish it. That type of pressure manifests itself with false starts trying to get that little extra head start, holding penalties because they physically can't do what he's asking, & illegal formations because they are overthinking everything. The players are so stressed by the play calling, especially with the pressure of the game on the line, that they can't perform. That is the sign of a bad coach that cannot adjust his play calls to the talent he has on hand. We ALL see it yet don't want to admit it because we don't want to go through yet ANOTHER rebuild. So we continue lying to ourselves about Kyle's ability to win SB #6.
