An instant STAR with O'Connell in just 1 year.

Playing for Kyle Shanahan and with a good (obviously) group of teammates, Darnold was playing faster, and more decisively, and making the most out of the cameo he was getting ahead of his March free agency. I filed it away at the time, thinking maybe he could be this year's version of Baker Mayfield last year. Then, he landed with O'Connell, which gave me more reason to think it could happen.

"I just learned so much in San Francisco, not only from the coaches, but from the players," he told me last week. "The way Brock prepared every single week was inspiring to me. We didn't leave one stone unturned throughout the week. If there ever was a question, there were so many people to go, Hey, we didn't necessarily talk about this, what happens in the pass protection if there's a blitz? Then you add a couple words to the play-call to add a can or alert to it. There's an answer for every single coverage that we have on tape and every single play that we call.

Sorry that's not how he got better. He was a terrible scrub backup with Shany. He is a STAR with O'Connell.

You guys can lie to yourselves if it makes you feel better. But truth is still truth. It is what it is unfortunately for us.

He was not a terrible scrub and was looking very good when he got in there. And those are DARNOLD'S words, not ours. Or are you saying Darnold is lying to himself? Lol.

He plays like a STAR with O'Connell. He was a nothing backup with Shany. It is what it is. It's obvious who can pick out QB talent and develop it. Shany thought Trey was worth three 1st round picks. Mahomes plays too much off schedule. Better pick Solomon Thomas. To think this guy understands and develops QB's is delusional at best.
Things are going to really implode if Kyle has another season next year like the stinker this year.

He is in do or die mode.

Your constant hatred for Shanahan is getting boring. You need to find another thread.

He needs to find a different set of doctors and training staff so star players quit getting hurt. That would be a big deal.

He's only starting cause McCarthy was hurt. Sorry when Kyle brought him in our established starter didn't get hurt for the season.

I just don't think he understands QB's. Picking them in the draft, getting them in FA or developing them. The evidence simply doesn't support that at all. That's the point.
