49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

I've said it several times but the window closed when KS took the ball in OT
This team lacks the requisite talent to be successful. This is not a hc issue. I know, I know.. I am hard on Kyle but my eyes were opened wide. We simply don't have the horses to win. We need a lot and changing coaches ain't gonna fix anything. We need better players and a lot of them. Paying Brock is a mistake. He is losing games with turnovers. Not a quality I want in a franchise qb. The kicker by the way should not be welcomed back. No way. Never.

In the Purdy/Darnold comparison, the fact Darnold fell into a situation with healthy star players all around him seems to have missed you completely. Shanahan deserves credit for recognizing that Purdy, even when #3 on the depth chart, was better than JG, Lance, Darnold, and any other camp arm they had at any time. Purdy went on to prove Shanahan's correct assessment by going deep in two successive playoffs. Hence, your claim against KS has been proven wrong by the facts. So, admit it and move on. That is the honest thing to do.

i suppose you are referring to the Jed quote. a lot of that stuff may be the product of imperfect memory and something being said along those lines, that brock can play. he made roster as mr irrelevant so that tells you something. but i hardly think shanny was convicted that brock was the best early on. if he was, then he told the best QB not to dress until Trey got hurt, then ride the bench. you have to look at the actions. and darnold wasn't on roster at this moment that was next year and brock was 'QB1 when healthy'.

Lance was never the best on any SF roster when he was here. He was a project QB and was nothing more than wishful thinking. He is nowhere with the Cowboys either.

Jed: "(Kyle and John) are not going anywhere"

Well, so is this franchise.

Faithful knows that. His point was the depth chart was upside down at the same time our owner claimed Kyle knew Brock was the best.

More premature victory laps from Jed.
Another press conference where there's nothing but excuses and no accountability taken
i think coach will be refreshed with a revamped roster and a clean slate next season
Another 2nd half Implosion.....

An instant STAR with O'Connell in just 1 year.

Playing for Kyle Shanahan and with a good (obviously) group of teammates, Darnold was playing faster, and more decisively, and making the most out of the cameo he was getting ahead of his March free agency. I filed it away at the time, thinking maybe he could be this year's version of Baker Mayfield last year. Then, he landed with O'Connell, which gave me more reason to think it could happen.

"I just learned so much in San Francisco, not only from the coaches, but from the players," he told me last week. "The way Brock prepared every single week was inspiring to me. We didn't leave one stone unturned throughout the week. If there ever was a question, there were so many people to go, Hey, we didn't necessarily talk about this, what happens in the pass protection if there's a blitz? Then you add a couple words to the play-call to add a can or alert to it. There's an answer for every single coverage that we have on tape and every single play that we call.

Great find. And nice shout out to Purdy from Darnold.

Sorry that's not how he got better. He was a terrible scrub backup with Shany. He is a STAR with O'Connell.

You guys can lie to yourselves if it makes you feel better. But truth is still truth. It is what it is unfortunately for us.

Your constant hatred for Shanahan is getting boring. You need to find another thread.

I just don't think he understands QB's. Picking them in the draft, getting them in FA or developing them. The evidence simply doesn't support that at all. That's the point.

You've made your point ad nauseam.

How can you say that when Darnold is playing for the NFC top seed next week. lol.

Actual Steve Kerr, or our version in Jim Tomsula?
