the league is way too hard these days.

we are lucky to have even made it to two superbowls and lost them to the chiefs. tbh if another afc made it we'd probably would've done better.
jed gonna give kyle the old 'lock in' pep talk

Probably would have got pounded by Baltimore.

We really missed our chance in 21. That Bengals team and that OL would have been a nice matchup. I think our best team was '22 though, and we didn't have a chance when Brock went down. May have lost anyway as that Eagles team was great.

The 2021 team would have won the SB if KS had balls and went for the 4th and 1 with a 3 point lead in the 4th quarter with the ball on the Rams 45.

Def the decision that sticks out most to me in terms of being overly conservative.

Agreed. That was a new type of Niners pain of thinking "what if" because we didn't have any QBs, followed by the most painful SB loss they've had...topping 2019 and 2012 with ease...let alone 2021, 2011, 2013.

This team is adept in absolutely gut wrenching losses without the balm of just a single ring.

2012 is still the worst loss of the good York teams, for me. 2011 probably second. I'll go with the Rams championship for the bronze.

For me the worst loss is 2011. We dominated the Giants OL and DL that day but lost because of one player and one bad call (forward progress Ahmad Bradshaw fumble). Second is a tie between the 2019 and 2023 SBs. Hard to imagine which is worse.

I still wonder if we could have scored enough to beat that Pats team in '11. No doubt our D would have given them troubles, at least for a good portion of the game.

I think we would have. We had a better D than the Giants that year. Also Gronk was hurt going into that SB.

It's been tough being a 49er fan. This dates back to the 90s and all the playoff losses against Dallas/GB. We have that 1 SB win in 1994 that was preceded by a few heartbreaking losses and then followed by 2 decades of more heartbreak.

1. Chiefs SB loss last year
2. NYG Championship Loss 2011
3. 2019 SB loss
4. 2012 SB loss tied with 2013 Championship game
6. 2022 Eagles Loss (this one was strange because it was an absolute killer but it was over before it started. more disappointing and shocking than anything. wasn't even a real game)

Just to close out my thoughts on this, I would have last year's SB loss right on the fringe of the top 3… tough call between that and the Rams NFCCG for me.

The first SB against the Chiefs and the Seahawks championship games don't rate as disappointing for me, as I thought those teams were better going in. To be honest I thought we lucked out with Atlanta holding off Seattle in '12 as well.
Again Kyle Shanahan CHOSE to give Pat Mahomes and Andy Reid FOUR downs to win the Super Bowl. He could have gave Brock Purdy, CMC, Deebo, Aiyuk, Kittle, etc FOUR downs to drive down field and tie or go for the Super Bowl win... but no, the idiot let the f**king Chiefs choose how the Super Bowl would end.

So yeah, that is what makes that Super Bowl loss even worse... Kyle, once again, out coached himself. Of course giving up that 10 point lead was brutal.. or us not being able to convert a 3rd down to end it before OT.

The inability to convert the 3rd and 4 is what sealed out fate. I was hoping for a 2 yard run a 4th and 2 call to go for it because I had no faith in us holding Mahomes back.
i think its a south bay curse. san jose/santa clara/sunnyvale whatever the heck is down there. those teams don't win championships. just look at the sharks. what have they ever done but get bounced deep in playoffs and what not. what a sore loser region.

minus the sabercats they dont count they are like minor league nonsense at best

no coach can fix this. its like fighting the madden curse
