I mean… is there any possible consequence like loss of draft picks? Or is the consequence simply "no, you can't hire him yet. Conduct interviews first"?

Still waiting for an answer on this… it kinda matters…

No draft picks. That would only happen if Kyle just says, idc about the rule and won't interview anyone else. Right now it's probably just a fine.

For punishment, they'll make him watch last year's Super Bowl, again.

That's crucial and unusual punishment

If I remember correctly, Mike McDaniel was promoted to OC without jumping through all these hoops. Why is it an issue now that Klay is being promoted?

um, you're forgetting one thing about McDaniel.

his *interview* satisfied the rule.

So you're saying you just can't promote white guys in the nfl without interviewing a minority candidate? But you can promote a minority candidate without interviewing a white guy?

Sucks that you need a rule like that but this behavior by Kyle shows exactly why this rule needs to be in place. I'm just wondering who will now come in to complete the "token" interview so that Kyle can hire his buddy?

The difference is Kyle wanted *that* minority. So I'm sure they told the NFL they conducted their interview and decided on him. So yes that is on Kyle for not interviewing a white guy, after interviewing a minority, before making his decision.

The idea behind the rule can be beneficial to both those minority coaches and teams. Even if it is a sham interview, that minority coach (which white women fall under as well, I believe) gets experience being part of real NFL interviews....which can be beneficial for future interviews (or other open positions with that team). There is also chance one might stand out to an owner, who initially had someone else in mind for that position.

So the whole idea is to just get more minority coaches opportunities and experience... which is better than few and far between opportunities. 🤷🏾‍♂

Kyle should learn from the guy that blew a 6-0 lead so he won't blow 10-0 leads.

Only thing he needs to learn from Jim is his ability to find great defensive coordinators consistently.

Lets not talk about Roman though haha
Is there anyone who would actually take Tomlin over Kyle? Dude is 8-11 in the playoffs with six consecutive first round exits and hasn't won a playoff game since before Kyle even started here.

It 6 consecutive losses. The fist one was in the AFC title game in 2016 and lost in the divisional round the next year (Pitts first game). I believe in those losses Pitt had been down by 21 points in each game.

Yeah but he won a Super Bowl in 2008 with Bill Cowher's team! He's the great HC ever and should never be fired. People who s**t on Kyle love Tomlin are so god damn hypocritical.

Hell no but some guy just the other day was telling me what an amazing coach he was. Who was that? NY? ExcusesAT? Smokey? They were basking in mediocrity as they do hare so that's why I'm thinking it was NY. I honestly can't remember though.

I like Tomlin he's a damn good coach and has taken a decent team as far as it can go most yrs. But you know according to people in here it all starts and ends with the HC. SO he should have been fired a while ago.

I never said he was amazing (he is a good HC) I've used Tomlin and John Harbs as examples of HCs that haven't done s**t for over a decade with either a HOF QB or multiple time MVP QB. Yet most people on here think they're amazing HCs that shouldn't be let go.

it's called having perspective and understanding of the league. Everyone in here is gonna whine 90% of the time if they don't win it all and it sounds like the only HC ya'll would be happy with is Reid (with Mahomes) and he's not gonna be available. So get over it already.

I would look to trade him if i was Pitt. They need to bottom out and that isn't happening under Tomlin.
