49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

Comparing Kyle to Tomlin, Harbaugh, Payton and McCarthy and saying Kyle sucks just because they've all won a Super Bowl? That's a bit different. They all won their Super Bowl 5+ years before Kyle even became a HC and have done jack squat since then. None of them have even made it back to the Super Bowl in the last 12 years, and IIRC each of them have only made one conference championship appearance in the last 12 years too.

The RULE should be you can compare Kyle to other coaches… for what they've done from 2017 to today. That's when Kyle started coaching so everything in that era is fair game.

People can't brag about Tomlin's Super Bowl from February 2009 when we're comparing him to Kyle who has only been a coach for 8 seasons. That's ridiculous. Are we just punishing Kyle for not becoming a coach sooner, now?

i think they grade out very similarly and that's why it's such a great matchup kyle vs mcvay. i have no issue saying i respect the heck out of mcvay. he's a heck of a coach.
Surely, it's all about the Superbowl ring, not play-off wins.

Yes, that is the history of the 49ers since 1995.

Kinda the modern-day Buffalo Bills.

I became a fan in 1990, that Bills team was class tbf, kept coming up short but it was a great team

Sure was, but as talented are they were; they will be remembered for losing .

There have been a lot less talented teams win Superbowls and they are known as being winners.

so you see the bills today as losers because of the 90s?

Yes, Look teams in the 90s were probably all-round better teams.

It would be interesting if the same Bills team played today in the modern game.

I see the Bills as non-Superbowl winners.

If a team goes through the lifecycle of the major players and doesn't win a Superbowl, it is considered a failure.

Those 90s Bills would destroy most of the elite teams from the past few years, including the 49ers

I reckon the current KC Chiefs wouldn't get within 10 points of the 90s Buffalo Bills.

The 90s game was different though.

You could actually hit with intent.

Today's game is glorified flag football.

Tomlin's been the HC for how long and he has the same amount of playoff wins as Kyle and McVay? That's with prime Big Ben?

A little trivia question:

Who is the only HC on that list who has never won a Super Bowl?

Who cares about SBs from over 15 yrs ago? You gonna tell me what your MySpace song was or who won the 2nd yr in American Idol too 🤣

I would trade 2 SB losses over the past 5 years for one win in 2009 ? You wouldn't ? (Don't answer…something tells me you actually prefer the two losses )
