I don't see why they'd move away from the wide 9 considering it was under Saleh that they transitioned to a base wide 9 front. You already have an elite DL coach in Kris Kocurek here who is the best wide 9 DL coach in the league, and Saleh ran a wide 9 base in New York. I'm pretty sure he likes the front.

Lacking IDL isn't an excuse to discard the scheme. The real issue is the lack of resources being invested at the position group. They've drafted one IDL(Kalia Davis) in the last four drafts. That's not close to enough.

Buckner Armstead DJ Jones.....not here. Actually only two players left since Saleh was DC. If you dont have the horses then change.

They didn't change to a wide 9 front because of those 3 individuals. They inherited AA/Defo, and they weren't running a base wide 9 when they drafted DJ Jones--they were running a 4-3 under front.

Saleh explained that the overarching reason they transitioned to a base wide 9 is because wanted to marry the rush down package with base package and keep everything continuous for the players.

Also, it's a bit ironic you made that statement considering the base wide 9 was one of the main reasons they felt Defo could be moved.

Ya...they inherited those players and felt they suited a wide 9.

Hopefully. If they draft or sign the right players.

Forget falling to us let's just do what Philadelphia did with Jalen Carter (a few years ago) go up a few spots and grab him!

Plenty of ammo to do it

Maybe I dont understand but in a wide 9, the DTs have to be good enough to consume double teams so we are going to expect that from a rookie?

Why not? The current draft class is pretty well stacked at interior DL. You're not talking about acquiring ten guys but a couple difference makers.

Sure.....a rookie DT.

How do people become married to a defensive scheme as a fan......hilarious.

End of the day I dont care. Just dont play the s**t defense we did in 2024.

Worked for the Rams this year. There's zero reason why a rookie DT can't be a major contributor if you get the right guy in there.
