I've said 'What's up' to Saleh a couple times when he was with the 49ers. His son played against my son in rec league soccer. This is when they were both in elementary school. This past season, I was in NY doing a show for my work. I saw Saleh walking in the tunnel and said what's up to him. He completely ignored me lol. Gameface was in full effect so I understand. They ended up winning that Thursday Night game over the Patriots.

This is why I didn't want to bring him back as our DC.

haha. It was about 5-6 hours before gametime so I think he just got to the stadium and was walking towards the lockerrooms. He may have had headphones on, so maybe he didn't hear me. Anyway, he's a nice guy when I saw him on the soccer field hanging out on a weekend. I'm sure that's a different mindset than 5 hours before kickoff.

lol yeah, he seems like a nice chill guy when it isn't game time.

When someone is working, especially a job as intense and overwhelming, as a HC position in the nfl - these guys are super locked in (or should be). So much is riding on every single game (individually and team) that You can't fault them for not being super friendly during that time.

go ahead and interrupt Kyle while he's calling plays or putting together a game plan. Lmao dude will probably assault you. Guy would def flip out

I thought he did well during the 2020 season when Bosa was injured early, on top of other injuries. I agree that the league is moving forward, and overall, I feel defensive schemes are more aggressive with blitzing and disguising than in recent years. I hope Saleh adopts some of that. Simply lining up and playing straight up as the defensive scheme is not good enough.

The 2020 season was a weird one because it had covid and many players and coaches thoughts were elsewhere, and it's understandable enough.

Still, maybe unfairly but nonetheless, I remember the Brian Allen debacle very vividly.

The concept was old as day - you had a guy who clearly isn't an nfl level corner starting at corner. Hence what should coaching do there if they can't get better talent? Well the coaching job was to "hide" him and put him in situations where the scheme would make it work.

We all know the result but it's how the team went about it was more frustrating. The coaching staff saw repeatedly Fitzpatrick attacking the poor bum corner and didn't do a damn thing until the game was out of hand.

Saleh was the defensive coach so obviously why I bring it up. To be a dc coach and watch a guy get burned relentlessly by the other team and have no answers whatsoever is brutal.

And hence my issue with the whole "belief in the system". If you ain't got good enough talent no system works. The patriot way stopped being a thing real fast when Pats stopped winning. And that was a coach with many rings and arguably the best defensive mind the league has ever seen.

Put belief in your players and have schemes that can make players better and protect worse players. Not believe in system using weak talent and think the system will magically work with worse players because they know the system.

Doesn't need to work a miracle, just needs to make adjustments like he has done at an elite level for the last 5 years. Problem solved

He needs more than adjustments. He needs to add talent. And hopefully he's improved his blitz packages

Yes adding talent will help, of course, but with the team we had having the leads we had vs the rams cards Seahawks and so on those would have been WINS without additional talent, only adjustments.

We went from the best 4th quarter team to the worst. That cost us the playoffs this year. Glad bc we got a top pick this year in the draft (not to mention better picks every round)

KJ will be our next DC after Saleh leaves in a year or two for another HC job
So excited to have Saleh back in SF as our DC, I missed him so much, it was great having DeMeco for the 2yrs we had him, he earned that Houston HC job, as did Saleh in NYJ, he got screwed IMO, but whatever, he's back, he's our DC again, I truly believe we'll be much better in 2025 with Saleh as DC vs. Sorensen as DC, I know we wanted Ulbrich last year but the lateral move wasn't allowed by the Jets, would have loved Ulbrich last year, but am ecstatic that Saleh is back, also like the Boyer hiring as STC, has had a top 5-10 ST unit, we're off to a very very good start, now extend Brock, Jauan, Warner, & Kittle, retain Dre & Hufanga, upgrade the IOL & IDL, not too much to ask for TBH, bring back DJ Jones, I miss him so much.

Hoping this defense gets back on track. I like Saleh but I was hoping for a little change of direction in the defense, something different than the wide nine. A little more blitz here and there. Maybe Saleh will incorporate that into his scheme. I know he will be more energetic on the sidelines.
