He may have to conjure up a 2-2-7 formation with the way things looking on defensive side of the ball.

Came back to a dumpster fire, don't blame him if he wants out after this season, but hopefully he stays on and we get to Super Bowl in 3 years or so

Saleh was like I'll get plenty of opportunities once the league sees how great the defense is next year and Kyle said BET.

Can't lose your DC to another team if your defense isn't very good *taps head*

Bad situation for this guy. Came in and watched ownership snatch the keys from Kyle.

Set him up to fail so he doesn't leave after one year for a HC job

I'm sure Saleh was informed of all the releases and hes probably already looked in to replacements in the draft.

Saleh was described as the "head coach" of the D when he re-signed. Let's not pretend he's sitting in his own little corner while all this is happening.
He would have had his say on our current players, potential free agents, rookies, type of player traits he looks for etc.
This draft is going to be all about the front 7.

Which is good cause the draft class looks strong there. People don't want to admit it but our approach in FA makes sense: we've signed a WR, a TE, a LB, two CBs and two Safeties. Like you said. Draft is for the front seven

As someone who was against the Floyd cut, I can't imagine Saleh wanting anything to do with a Dline that can't stop the run. Probably looked at the film and wanted to cut them all.
He is going to rebuild this group, almost from scratch. There is a good head start with Bosa, Warner, and Lenoir, which is more than what many not so good defenses have to begin with.
It's gonna be nice having good players again that arent on a second contract.

That's pretty much the POV I'm taking on this. As much as people want to blame Lynch, Jed, Kyle etc, there's no way Saleh wasn't saying "If you want to cut him, I'm good with that", but at the same time there's no way Saleh is coming back to have a talentless D propped up by a couple of stars. There's a plan here, and yes there is an element of risk whenever you cut someone without a ready to go replacement or a sure thing in the draft (which it almost never is), but Saleh isn't going to be left with a bare cupboard.

Or he's confident that he can coach up a bunch of younger talent.
